The school has Buckley House (Early Learning Centre) as a main entry point, Foundation and Year 7 at Plenty Campus, and Year 7 at Ridgeway Campus. Places outside these entry points are limited and subject to availability. Step 1 - Submit an application: One application per child; birth certificate and visa/Australian citizenship document for overseas births are required; a non-refundable $120 application fee applies; separate applications are needed for each child; changes to the application must be directed to the Admissions Office. Step 2 – Join the waitlist: After the completed application is submitted, the child's application joins the waitlist for entry according to the level/grade and year of entry selected. Step 3 – Commencement of the offering process: Prior to Year 7 commencement, the school will request confirmation of interest in Year 7; the school will commence offering positions in line with the Enrolment Policy; priority is given to those with a family connection to the school (current sibling or a child or grandchild of an Old Ivanhoe Grammarian Life Member). For entry outside Year 7, the school will be in touch at the appropriate time; additional documentation may be requested; Year 7 interviews may be requested by the school or by parents; a Letter of Offer may be sent. Step 4 – Acceptance and confirmation of enrolment: Acceptance instructions are provided in the Letter of Offer; enrolment is confirmed when the Capital Levy is paid and the Letter of Acceptance is signed and returned. Inform the Admissions Office if contact details change. Demand for places is strong and early applications are encouraged; Early Learning Centre enrolment requires full immunisation.
The waitlist operates after Step 1: once the completed application is submitted, the child's application joins the waitlist for entry according to the level/grade and year of entry selected. Priority is given to current siblings and the children and grandchildren of Old Ivanhoe Grammarians who hold Life Membership. For Year 7, the school begins offering positions in line with the Enrolment Policy; for entry outside Year 7, the school will be in touch at the appropriate time. Shortlisted applicants may be invited to interviews, and additional documentation may be requested. A Letter of Offer may be sent for consideration.
The school offers Academic Scholarships, High Achievers Scholarships, General Excellence Awards, First Nations Scholarships, and Peter Rule Sports Scholarships. Academic Scholarships open in August 2026; exams are conducted at the Plenty Campus (Doreen) or the Ivanhoe Campus, depending on entry venue; the scholarship reduces net tuition fees by up to 50% until Year 12; the number of scholarships varies and results are typically released about three weeks after testing. High Achievers Scholarships for Year 11 2027 entry are open to external applicants only; international students on a student visa are ineligible; applications are online; shortlisted candidates attend an interview; successful recipients receive up to 50% tuition fee reduction. General Excellence Awards for Year 7 or Year 10 2027 entry are open to external and current students; international students on a visa are ineligible; an application fee of $150 applies; required documents include references, school reports, Naplan results (Year 5 2025 for Year 7 2027; Year 7 2024 for Year 10 2027), a photo, and the applicant may be interviewed; terms include up to 50% tuition remission for the duration of secondary schooling, with conditions on continued enrolment and fee payment, a 7-day acceptance window, and a 2-week enrolment period including a $1,500 Capital Levy and a $3,500 Tuition Fee Deposit. First Nations Scholarships were launched in 2022 in partnership with the Aborigines Advancement League to provide educational opportunities for Indigenous students; students may reside at the Gladys Nicholls Hostel under supervision as part of the program. Peter Rule Sports Scholarships for entry into Year 10 or Year 11 2026 are for elite athletes with strong academic credentials; applications were closed for 2026 in the posted notice; the scholarship targets current Ivanhoe students or new entrants at Plenty Campus. Ivanhoe Grammar School is a private, co-educational day school in Australia with four campuses and a single, connected learning community. The curriculum combines the Australian Curriculum with the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, offering a broad range of subjects from Early Learning to Year 12 across multiple campuses.
