It's best to ask — circumstances can change at any time.
From the Early Learning Centre through to Year 12, the school uses methods of positive psychology to instil safety, support and wellbeing in all students. Mindfulness practice is incorporated into classroom activities for younger students, and Wellbeing Sessions are held for senior students to relieve stress and promote calm. The school takes a holistic approach to pastoral care, balancing social, emotional, psychological, spiritual, moral and intellectual development. A house and peer support system ensures students have access to a network of support at all levels. School counsellors, heads of campus, mentors, heads of year and school chaplains are available to support students and alumni, and parent wellbeing resources are shared through weekly communications and campus newsletters and the Schools TV channel.
Students at Ivanhoe Grammar School have a broad spectrum of academic needs in an open-entry environment. The Individual Needs team across campuses works with students who require additional support beyond classroom differentiation. There are students with cognitive and physical disabilities, and some have more than one diagnosis; the program also supports students without diagnosed disability, such as those with very low cognitive ability. Teachers are responsible for progress and can seek consultative advice from the Individual Needs team. The school uses a three-tier model of support to determine the level of intervention. Head of Individual Needs Laura Wrigglesworth can be contacted at laura.wrigglesworth@ivanhoe.com.au.
The NEAS-accredited Ivanhoe International Academy Program offers intensive English Language tuition alongside core subjects. For international students, English as Additional Language (EAL) status can be applied for under Victorian requirements by submitting an application for English as Additional Language Units 3 and 4 using the designated form. Eligibility criteria consider time spent in English-speaking environments and evidence of English proficiency; students may transfer to mainstream studies after attaining satisfactory English skill levels, as determined by the Dean of International Students. Before offering a place, the school checks English language proficiency and AEAS results, and it monitors course progress throughout the program. The IELP is NEAS-endorsed and provides English language support to help students access VCE/IB programs.

Ivanhoe Grammar School is a private, co-educational day school in Australia with four campuses and a single, connected learning community. The curriculum combines the Australian Curriculum with the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, offering a broad range of subjects from Early Learning to Year 12 across multiple campuses. In the Early Learning and Primary Years, literacy and numeracy are taught alongside specialist subjects such as Visual Arts, Music, Japanese, Physical Education and Library. In the Middle Years, core subjects are studied with elective options in Arts and Design, allowing students to begin exploring personal interests. In Year 9, the University Campus program brings real-world experiences through a university partnership. Senior Years students tailor their courses to future pathways.
