Daily life details and school culture

Boarding Arrangements

Boarding is available for students from Grade 5, with separate male and female boarding houses on the Senior Campus. Girls Boarding House and Boys Boarding House can each host up to 40 students from Grades 5 to 12. Each boarding house includes a lounge area, dedicated study spaces and a student kitchen, with on-site dining providing a healthy meals option. The boarding houses are located on the Senior Campus, with transport to the Junior Campus provided to boarders in Grades 5 and 6; weekend activities and access to extensive on-site facilities support boarding life.

Uniform Requirement

Boy and girl students have different formal summer and winter uniforms, plus a dedicated sports uniform. Uniform items can be purchased at the Launceston Grammar Shop on the Senior Campus; opening times are Monday 8:30am–12:30pm, Thursday 12:30pm–4:30pm, and Friday 12:30pm–4:30pm. Uniform items can be ordered online via Noone.

Food Options

Head Chef and kitchen staff provide a healthy, balanced diet for boarders, with hot items for breakfast, morning tea and lunch, plus afternoon tea and dinner with salads and hot options. Boarders are in a nut-aware kitchen and dietary requirements can be accommodated. The dining facilities are welcoming and cater to a range of dietary needs.

House System

Grammar uses a pastoral House System. Junior Campus houses are Buesnell-Rooney, Lyttleton-Hewton and Maxey-Middleton. Senior Campus houses are Fraser, Gillett, Roff, Savigny and Wilkinson; boarding students belong to Hawkes Boarding House.
