History

The Monte Sant' Angelo Mercy College has educated young women since 1875. It was founded in 1875 by the Sisters of Mercy, North Sydney, and has a long history linked to the Monte Sant' Angelo Mercy College Foundation and the College Board. The College established its governance structures and later transitioned to lay leadership. In 2025, Monte celebrated its 150-year milestone (sesquicentenary) of Mercy education.

Community

Monte offers a holistic education in the Mercy tradition with a broad student life that includes performing arts, sports, and cultural immersions. Leadership opportunities are available through roles such as College Captains, House Captains, and the Student Representative Council. Care and Wellbeing are central to the Monte experience, and Mercy values guide community service and social justice initiatives. Monte Foundation and the Monte Parents and Friends Association connect families and support College programs.

Parent-Teacher Association

The Monte Parents and Friends Association (P&F) represents current and past parents and friends of Monte, supporting the College through hospitality and service. P&F is led by an Executive Committee and relies on a network of parent volunteers. P&F meetings and parent forums are held in March, May and November, and the Annual General Meeting takes place in September.
