The school offers the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. The Diploma comprises six subjects from six academic areas plus the Core: Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge, and Creativity, Activity, Service. The six subject groups are Language A - English A Language and Literature; Language Acquisition/Language B - French, Korean, Spanish, Mandarin; The Arts - Dance, Music, Theatre, Visual Arts, and Film; Sciences - Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Systems and Societies, and Design Technology; Mathematics - Applications and Interpretations. In Year 10 Biology, Chemistry, ESS and Physics are combined as a single Science, and Mathematics is a single subject; students may substitute between Sciences, Language Acquisition/Individuals and Societies and The Arts depending on options. The six Arts subjects are Dance, Music, Visual Arts, Design Technology, Theatre, and Film. Performances and showcases are part of the arts experience, including the Launch 2025 Dance Showcase. The school also hosts a Music Showcase and related student performances.
Language offerings include beginner-level courses in French, Spanish and Mandarin through Language Acquisition, with Korean available to students with some prior proficiency. In Year 10, students must study a mainstream language.
Co-curricular activities include programs such as the Student Media Team and Student Podcast Team, with opportunities to participate in Inter School Gala Days and access representative sport pathways.
Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) is part of the IB Diploma core, guiding student engagement through creative, service and experiential learning.
The school has a formal student leadership structure, including Student Directors for 2026 and House Managers with Connect Mentors. A leadership framework supports representation from each year level and formal governance with the senior leadership team. Outreach Ambassadors demonstrate student leadership in community engagement.
The Blue Goose Café provides a social hub for the learning community, with volunteering opportunities for families. A Student Wellbeing Officer and other wellbeing supports are available to students, and sport and enrichment activities include inter-school gala days and representative pathways.
Queensland Academy for Creative Industries is selective-entry state high school in Kelvin Grove, Brisbane, on the Queensland University of Technology creative industries precinct. It offers International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme for students aged 16–19, a two-year pre-university curriculum. Students study six subjects across IB groups, with at least three at Higher Level, plus Core: Theory of Knowledge, Extended Essay, and Creativity, Activity and Service. The Diploma emphasizes breadth, intercultural understanding, independent inquiry, and includes Biology, Chemistry, Design Technology, English, Film, Dance, Music, Visual Arts, Theatre, Global Politics. Year 10 introduces IB concepts in preparation for Years 11–12. Seven-storey campus opened in 2007 and houses a library, refectory, gallery, media centre, film and broadcasting studio, music recording studio, and double-height Visual Art Gallery. Theatre spaces, science laboratories, Design Technology prototype lab, Green Screen Film Room, and industry-standard Dance Studio support a wide arts and sciences program for students with diverse interests globally.
