Admissions

How to apply, waitlist information, and financial support

Admissions Process

1. Prep to Year 10 entry is open; enrolment for the IB Diploma Programme (Year 11–12) has specific entry requirements. The enrolment journey begins with an invitation to discover Sophia Mundi through a guided tour, which provides a firsthand view of the community and learning environment. Tours start at 9:15am from the School Reception and require prior booking. 2. To enrol, prospective families submit an Application Form together with payment of the registration fee. The application places the child on the applicant list, prioritised by existing connections to the school and by date of application. 3. The enrolment process includes a family interview with school leadership, with flexibility for interstate or overseas families. 4. Successful applicants receive a formal Letter of Offer from the Principal. 5. Upon offer, families proceed with the next steps to finalise enrolment as required by the school.

Sophia Mundi Steiner School is an independent, non-denominational, co-educational Steiner school in Melbourne, Australia, and a member of Steiner Education Australia and an IB World School. It blends Rudolf Steiner's Waldorf curriculum with the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme in Years 11–12, while Prep to Year 10 follow Steiner principles through story, art, music, nature science and practical activity to awaken imagination and develop the whole person. The school operates inside the St Mary's building at the Abbotsford Convent arts precinct, a heritage site adjacent to the Birrarung (Yarra River) and near Collingwood Children's Farm. In 2012, the Mercator Annex added science laboratories to support the curriculum; the Arts Precinct provides spaces for Visual Arts, Drama and Music, with artist‑in‑residence collaborations and a nearby Cone 11 pottery studio. Outdoor Education, major field trips, and an exchange program in Year 10 with France or Switzerland round out a community‑focused, place‑based approach today.
