Billing schedule and payment terms
- Annual invoices for the coming school year are issued in December; Edstart receives the invoice and families may set up their payment plan to commence in January. Compulsory annual fees are billed once per year.
- Compulsory school fees must be paid through Edstart, the school's nominated school fee management provider. One consolidated bill is issued that is inclusive of tuition fees, camps, resources, ensemble, individual music where included, and school improvement levies.
- Edstart payment cadence options include weekly, fortnightly, monthly, termly or annual payments; families may switch payment frequency during the year and may choose their preferred payment day. There is no additional cost to families for using Edstart. Payment methods available through Edstart include direct debit, debit/credit card and BPay.

Sibling discounts and concessions
- Sibling discounts on the tuition fee are: 10% for the second child and 25% for the third child and subsequent children. The eldest enrolled child is considered the first child. Sibling discounts are not available where a family is in receipt of a separate Fee Discount. Fee discounts must be applied for directly to the School (not via Edstart).

Boarding
- Boarding is not provided; there are no boarding fees. The School operates as an inner‑city day school.

Additional charges and other payable costs
- Extra individual music lessons (beyond the compulsory lessons included in annual fees): AUD 380 per instrument per term. If music is chosen as a senior subject (Years 11–12) extra/instrumental lessons are invoiced at AUD 380 per term. No refunds are given for non‑attendance at additional music lessons. Additional music lessons are invoiced directly by the School.
- International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma subject and examination fees: typically in the range AUD 1,200 to AUD 1,500 per year (amount set by the IB Organisation and collected by the School, usually in May; amount may vary with exchange rate).
- Victorian curriculum assessment fees (GAT) for eligible students: approximately AUD 75–85 per year (on‑charged to students taking the test).
- Sports uniform charges: Students in Class 6 to Year 10 have a sports uniform ordered through the School; these uniforms are invoiced to families and must be paid prior to collection.
- Year 11 & 12 outdoor education camps or events are not included in the annual fee schedule and may be invoiced separately when they arise.
- Extraordinary excursions or events that fall outside standard scheduled activities may be invoiced separately; scheduled excursions/incursions are included in the annual fees for levels where the fee schedule indicates this. There are no refunds for student non‑attendance at excursions where the School has already arranged and paid for the event.
- School Building Fund and Scholarship Fund donations are voluntary and tax‑deductible for amounts over AUD 2; donation receipts are issued.

Refunds, withdrawals and absence
- Temporary student absence: all fees remain payable during any absence. For extended absences greater than 10 school weeks or one term, the School may consider fee remission; where remission is approved a holding fee of 10% will be charged in lieu of tuition for the equivalent term fees. No reduction in fees is provided for absences shorter than one term or ten weeks.
- Student withdrawal: one full term's written notice to the Principal is required when withdrawing a student. If insufficient notice is provided, a full term's fee may be charged. No refunds are provided for portions of a term if withdrawal occurs without the required notice.
- Cancelled enrolment: where an enrolment is cancelled according to School policy, reimbursement for any remaining portion of fees paid may be considered. Additional charges billed separately from annual fees are not eligible for sibling discounts.
- No refunds are provided for missed compulsory individual music lessons (these are part of the curriculum) or for non‑attendance at excursions where arrangements and payments have already been made.

Default, overdue accounts and penalties
- Accounts exceeding 56 days in arrears (without agreement with Edstart) may incur recovery action including debt collection or legal proceedings. The School may charge the bank fees incurred, an administrative fee of AUD 100 per month overdue, and interest at the Penalty Interest Rate Act 1983 (Vic) rate plus 2%. Persistent non‑payment may lead to termination or exclusion of student enrolment after 30 days' written notice.

Fee payment options (summary)
- Compulsory annual fees: payable only via Edstart. Payment methods available through Edstart: direct debit, debit/credit card and BPay; payment frequency options include weekly, fortnightly, monthly, termly or annually. There is no additional cost for using Edstart. One consolidated annual invoice is issued and provided to Edstart for plan setup.
- Additional charges (extra music lessons, uniforms, IB exam fees, extraordinary excursions, senior camps, etc.): invoiced directly by the School and payable to the School; payment methods for these invoices will be those specified on the invoice.

Sophia Mundi Steiner School is an independent, non-denominational, co-educational Steiner school in Melbourne, Australia, and a member of Steiner Education Australia and an IB World School. It blends Rudolf Steiner's Waldorf curriculum with the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme in Years 11–12, while Prep to Year 10 follow Steiner principles through story, art, music, nature science and practical activity to awaken imagination and develop the whole person. The school operates inside the St Mary's building at the Abbotsford Convent arts precinct, a heritage site adjacent to the Birrarung (Yarra River) and near Collingwood Children's Farm. In 2012, the Mercator Annex added science laboratories to support the curriculum; the Arts Precinct provides spaces for Visual Arts, Drama and Music, with artist‑in‑residence collaborations and a nearby Cone 11 pottery studio. Outdoor Education, major field trips, and an exchange program in Year 10 with France or Switzerland round out a community‑focused, place‑based approach today.
