The school offers a wide range of co-curricular academic competitions and challenges, including Premier's Reading Challenge, Readers Cup, Australian Mathematics Competition (AMC), and the Queensland Association of Mathematics Teachers (QAMT) Competition. Debating and chess are available in both Junior and Secondary School, with participation in ICAS Competitions and MTLAQ Japanese Speech Contest. Education Perfect Language Competition and other language contests extend language learning beyond the classroom. The school runs Maker projects and entrepreneurship initiatives such as the Maker Project with Southern Cross University and the Innovate and Create Entrepreneurship Program.
The Arts includes a Performing Arts Tuition program with instruction in Voice, Piano, Brass, Woodwind, Strings, Guitar, Drums, Dance, and Speech and Drama. The Arts Department also offers cocurricular ensembles and performance opportunities beyond curricular classes. Students can join Fiction Club, Art Club, Textiles Club, and Cooking Club, and participate in poetry and writing competitions such as SlammED! Poetry Competition. The Arts fosters creative expression through arts ensembles and performances at St Andrews.
Japanese language opportunities include a Japanese Club and MTLAQ Japanese Speech Contest, with Education Perfect Language Competition also featured. Language activities support language development across Junior and Secondary levels. MTLAQ Japanese Speech Contest and Education Perfect Language Competition provide opportunities to engage with language beyond class time.
Lego Brickbuilders, Debating, Chess, Esports and Readers Club options are available in Junior School; Esports continues in Secondary School. A wide range of hobby and interest clubs includes Debating, Chess, Art Club, Fiction Club, Minecraft Club, and Dungeons & Dragons Club, as well as Library Activities, offering creative outlets beyond the classroom.
The school runs community service programs including Currumbin Community Special School Service, Rosie's Service and Sleep Out, and Aged Care ANZAC Day Service. Leo's Club and the Caught You Caring Group focus on volunteering and service activities within the community.
Student leadership is provided through the Student Representative Council. Sport is central to wellbeing, guided by a Sport for Life philosophy with Participation for All, Skill Development and Achievement, and Elite Athlete Pathways. The program supports participants from Foundation through Years 4–12 with district, regional, state, and national pathways and trials. A gym is open to Years 7–12 after hours for supervised training. Signature sports include Futsal, Netball, Touch Football, Kokoda Challenge, and Mountain Biking, with an expanding range of other activities.
St Andrews Lutheran College is a private, co‑educational Christian school serving students from age 3 to 18.
