Tara has a strong Debating and Public Speaking tradition. Girls develop persuasive, research and teamwork skills that support confidence across subjects. Senior School participates in Archdale, MUNA, Macquarie Schools' Cup and Interhouse Debating, with additional events such as History Debating and the NSW Chinese Debating Competition. Public Speaking workshops run throughout the year.
The Performing Arts program includes Senior Choir, Tara Singers, TarAcapella, Concert Band, Axis Wind Ensemble, Chamber Orchestra, String Quartets and Handbells, and a full-scale musical is produced biannually. A School Musical for Years 7–10 is produced biannually, and Year 11 students audition to participate in the joint production with The King's School. Past productions have included Legally Blonde The Musical Jr, Matilda, Back to the 80s, Oliver!, Me and My Girl and Jesus Christ Superstar. International performance tours are offered, alongside a thriving program of drama and music across the year.
Tara offers Global Opportunities including Sister School Exchange Programs with France, Japan, China, South Africa, Canada and the United Kingdom. Exchanges are primarily offered to Year 10 students, with family hosting options available. Study tours and international programs include a Music Tour, Performing Arts Tour, History Tours and a France Tour and a Japan Tour. These experiences provide opportunities to engage with other cultures and languages.
Tara Enrichment Centre offers activities including Art Activities, Chess, Digital Media & Visual Content Creation, Dance, Photography, Spanish, Group Speech Communication, RoboKids, Sing, Act, Move!, and Taekwondo. Regular weekly after-school classes include photography, ceramics and Visual Arts. There are also after-school opportunities in tennis coaching and other creative and athletic pursuits.
Service is a key part of Tara's identity as a Christian learning community. Service learning blends learning objectives with community service to provide real, progressive learning outcomes. Students engage with local and global communities through Circles of Engagement and Circles of Influence to serve near and far. Love God, love others is a guiding principle in Tara's everyday life.
All activities and leadership roles are open to all Tara girls; they have the chance to participate, influence and lead. Student leadership is a powerful way to tap energy, build self-respect and create a caring school. Leadership development is integrated through cocurricular and service programs, and Tara empowers girls to be compassionate, talented, global citizens.
Sport offers a wide range of activities for all abilities; Senior School can participate in Saturday IGSA competitions. Representative sports include Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Cross Country, Dance, Football, Gymnastics, Hockey, Netball, Rowing, Rugby 7s, Snowsports, Swimming, Tennis, Touch Football and Water Polo. Tara has a Strength and Conditioning Centre with coaching staff to develop strength and skills for competition. Tara houses foster camaraderie and participation in carnivals such as Swimming, Cross Country and Athletics.
Tara Anglican School for Girls is an independent day and boarding school in North Parramatta, Sydney, offering the International Baccalaureate (PYP, MYP, DP) alongside the Australian Curriculum. Founded in 1897 in Parramatta by Mary Elizabeth Waugh, Tara preserves its Anglican tradition and values as a guiding framework for learning and community life. The Mount Arcadia site has housed the Senior School since 1959. The campus features a Chapel, Eggleton House (boarding), an Astronomy Centre and Observatory, a Performing Arts Centre and Theatre, a Visual Arts Complex, plus science, hospitality and learning-resource facilities.
