Resources and spaces that support learning and development

Facilities Overview

The Tara campus includes the Chapel, Eggleton House (Boarding), an Astronomy Centre and Observatory, a Performing Arts Centre and Theatre, and a Visual Arts Complex. Academic facilities include the Senior Learning and Careers Centre, the Bruce Smith Science Lecture Theatre, the Dr Shatford Science and Technology Centre, and Hospitality Course kitchens. There are two Libraries and an IT Resource Centre, plus specialised and flexible learning spaces across the Junior School and Senior School. On-site amenities include a Health Centre, dining spaces such as the Chapel Café, Senior School Cafeteria, and Junior School Canteen, the Administration Centre, and a Before and After School Care and Vacation Centre. Outdoor facilities include playgrounds, a junior school scooter track, an Aquatic Centre with a 25-metre heated indoor pool and learn-to-swim pool, a gymnasium and gymnastics space, six tennis/basketball/netball courts, two sports ovals, and a Rowing Shed overlooking Parramatta River.

Sports Facilities

The sports precinct includes a 25-metre indoor heated competition pool and a Learn to Swim pool. There are six tennis, basketball and netball courts and two sports ovals on campus. A gymnasium and gymnastics space, a movement room, and a Rowing Shed overlook Parramatta River to support a wide range of activities.

Academic Facilities

The Astronomy Centre and Observatory support astronomy teaching. The Bruce Smith Science Lecture Theatre and The Dr Shatford Science and Technology Centre provide dedicated science spaces. Hospitality Course kitchens support practical food technology. Two Libraries and an IT Resource Centre serve learning resources across the campus. Specialised and Flexible Learning Spaces and the Senior Learning and Careers Centre support modern teaching and career planning.

Extra-Curricular Activities

The Performing Arts Centre and Theatre support music and drama programs and performances. The Visual Arts Complex provides spaces for art learning. The Tara Enrichment Centre offers before and after school tuition and enrichment across performing arts, sport, language and outdoor education, including the Duke of Edinburgh Award. Weekly Chapel and assemblies and the House Choral Competition are part of school life.

Tara Anglican School for Girls is an independent day and boarding school in North Parramatta, Sydney, offering the International Baccalaureate (PYP, MYP, DP) alongside the Australian Curriculum. Founded in 1897 in Parramatta by Mary Elizabeth Waugh, Tara preserves its Anglican tradition and values as a guiding framework for learning and community life. The Mount Arcadia site has housed the Senior School since 1959.
