The COLE schools began in 1989 when Rosie Ladner-Cole opened 'COLE English Playgroups' in a room at Weingartnerstrasse 108, 6020 Innsbruck. It initially served Austrian children aged 3 to 6 and soon attracted families from around Innsbruck; afternoon English courses for children aged 6 to 10 were added, becoming COLE English Centre for Kids and later registered as COLE International Schools. In 1999/2000 a large room was added to the house, and the school remains a family home with a homely, welcoming atmosphere. The founder is R.E. Ladner-Cole, MA (1989).
The COLE All Levels calendar is published for 2025-26 and 2026-27 to coordinate events and school activities. Holiday Programmes include OCTEX, WINTEX, EASTEX and SUMEX for children aged 3 to 10, with sessions from 7:30 to 13:30 and vegetarian lunches; places are limited and registration is advised via admin@cole.at. Parent testimonials from international families illustrate a global, engaged COLE community. Sponsors include Archimedes Privatstiftung and Verein: Freunde von COLE International Schools.
