Emotions and social relationships are a defined part of COLE Pre-school's educational areas. They include identity development, trust and well-being, cooperation and conflict culture. The curriculum supports children to express their feelings, develop self-awareness and self-confidence, and learn conflict resolution strategies. It also promotes stable relationships with caregivers and peers, and fosters social and communicative interaction in play.
In COLE Pre-school, inclusion is a fundamental attitude; diversity is recognised as a resource and education is differentiated to meet individual needs. The educational concept emphasises inclusive pedagogy and language support to assist learners with different needs. The Pre-school is not suitable for children with severe physical and mental disabilities or major learning difficulties.
Working language is English with German as a second language. Language support and language proficiency assessment are essential parts of the educational work to assist children who do not speak English or German. Additional English and German native-speaking educators support language development and bridge to the lead teacher for children who do not speak English/German.

COLE International Schools in Innsbruck offers a bilingual English and German early years pathway and a bilingual Primary School for children aged 6 to 10. The Pre-School operates in English with German speaking assistants and follows the British Early Years Foundation Stage for younger children, while the Primary delivers parallel instruction in German and English under the supervision of qualified teachers from Britain and Austria. The bespoke curriculum blends Austrian and British frameworks with a science emphasis, and ICT is integrated across learning. The school is private and non-denominational, housed in a family home with a dedicated Pre-School garden.
