Modern Knowledge Schools were established in 1995. The founding and governance include the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mrs. Parween Kazerooni, and Deputy Chairman Dr. Mohamed Saleh. The school offers an American curriculum alongside the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme and has been an IB World School since 11 March 2002. The school has accreditation from the Middle States Association (MSA). The mission emphasizes developing respectful, globally-minded lifelong learners.
MKS fosters a sense of school community through an extracurricular program featuring trips, clubs, and events involving staff, students, and parents. The activities program is designed to extend learning, build a sense of identity and belonging, and celebrate Bahraini culture. MKS participates in the Bahrain private schools sports league (BPSSL) and hosts a Sports Day for K-12, reflecting community engagement through athletics. The school emphasizes global exposure and cultural exchange through international trips and diverse student cohorts.
Modern Knowledge Schools describe parent involvement through the Activities program rather than a formal PTA. The Activities program includes international trips, domestic field trips, student clubs, and events that involve parents. Athletic events and BPSSL competitions provide opportunities for family participation through school sports. Direct contact with school leaders and department heads is available to engage families in ongoing programs. The university counseling program involves families by providing information and opportunities for parents to participate in college-planning activities.
