Extra-Curricular Activities

Clubs, activities, and opportunities to explore interests and passions

Academic and Intellectual

The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme is offered for grades 11–12. It is a challenging, externally assessed and moderated two‑year course requiring six IB subjects taken concurrently in the last two years of high school. AISD also awards an AISD Diploma, with a minimum of 27 credits across English, Social Studies, Mathematics, Science, Modern Language, Fine Arts, Senior Project/Extended Essay, Electives, Physical Education, and Service Learning; the Grade 12 year must be completed at AISD, and transfer students must have completed Grade 11 at an accredited school where the medium of instruction is English. The IB learner profile underpins AISD's programs, emphasizing inquiry, knowledge, thinking, communication, principled, open-minded, caring, risk-taking, balanced and reflective practice.

Arts and Creative

Arts are offered through the Co-Curricular program. The arts transform ideas into expressive works and stimulate thinking, imagination, senses, and feelings. The arts are powerful forms of expression that recognize, value, and contribute to AISD's local and international cultural character. Through movement, sound, and image, arts education fosters creativity and the confidence to take risks.

Cultural and Language

Discovery Week provides an Experiential Learning program for secondary students designed to explore the region, cultures, and people and to develop intercultural awareness. InResidence@AISD brings in experts from diverse disciplines—artists, poets, coaches, scientists, entrepreneurs—for residencies of one or more weeks to enrich the curriculum and empower learners. The IB learner profile describes students as inquirers, knowledgeable thinkers, communicators, principled, open-minded, caring, risk-takers, balanced and reflective.

Social and Hobbies

Co-Curricular activities and athletics are an extension of the school learning program across all three divisions. The program offers a wide variety of academic, creative, service, technical and athletic activities and encourages participation by every student. It aims to cultivate a growth mindset, respect, commitment, ethical character, critical thinking, and accountability.

Community and Service

Service Learning is integrated into all divisions with AISD's vision to prepare students to become stewards of a just and sustainable world. Students undertake Service Learning projects that benefit the local Bangladeshi community, with on-site and off-site activities and guest-led discussions. Secondary service groups address issues across education, health, environment, and social causes, reinforcing intercultural understanding and global citizenship.

Leadership and Professional

InResidence@AISD brings experts in arts, science, sports and entrepreneurship for residencies of one or more weeks to enrich the curriculum and support educators and students. Service Learning and other co-curricular activities foster leadership, collaboration, and social responsibility across divisions.

Lifestyle and Wellbeing

Co-Curricular emphasizes holistic development and social growth through after‑school athletics, clubs and arts. The Athletics and Activities Department provides maximum opportunity for student exploration and engagement across a broad range of programs, with an emphasis on growth mindset, respect, commitment, ethical character, critical thinking, and accountability.
