BIS offers a full IB continuum (PYP, MYP and DP) across two Brussels campuses. The North Campus provides Early Childhood, Primary Years and Secondary Years, including the IB Diploma Programme, while the South Campus offers IB Primary Years, IB Middle Years and IB Diploma Programme. The Primary Years approach is learning through concepts and connections, with English as the language of instruction and French taught as an additional language, alongside humanities, sciences, physical education and the arts. The Diploma Programme emphasizes student agency, voice and engagement, and aims to develop globally minded, ethically aware graduates who can think critically and act with integrity.
Visual Arts and Music are part of the North Campus Primary Years curriculum. The IB Diploma Programme includes an Arts subject and the arts are valued as a core element of BIS learning. Arts are integrated across disciplines and student life within BIS, reflecting a culture that values creativity. Creative work is highlighted as part of both the curriculum and student experience.
Instruction is in English, with French taught as an additional language. The BIS learning community represents over 50 nationalities and speaks 42 languages. The North Campus is located near NATO and the South Campus is situated at Domaine Latour de Freins in Uccle.
Students participate in clubs and leadership activities supported by BIS programmes. The Diploma Programme emphasises student empowerment, with opportunities to join the student council, lead clubs and mentor younger students. The North Campus also hosts a Student Council that involves students in decisions about school identity, timetable and peer support.
The BIS community is strengthened by the Family Engagement Network, via the BIS Parents School Association, which coordinates activities, events and dialogue between families and the school to foster a warm, collaborative community. The PSA includes teachers, staff and parents/guardians and supports BIS's mission and values through organised initiatives.
BIS emphasizes leadership through its advisory programme and student leadership opportunities. Students can join the student council, lead clubs and mentor peers, developing personal passions with mentorship and opportunities to connect with BIS's professional networks. The Diploma Programme supports leadership and learning through its coordinators and advisory structures.
Safeguarding is a core commitment with a trained safeguarding team, staff training and policies that promote self-esteem, safety and emotional well-being through personal, social and health education. The Head of Physical Education at the North Campus leads PE and focuses on healthy, active lifestyles and student resilience. Student life includes information on school uniform, calendars, canteen and after-school activities.
Bogaerts International School (BIS) South Campus is located on the historic Domaine Latour de Freins in Uccle, south of Brussels. The school provides the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum for students aged 3 to 18, covering the Primary Years, Middle Years, and Diploma Programmes. Situated within a six-hectare wooded park, the campus features a Flemish neo-renaissance main building, an indoor gymnasium, and an outdoor tennis court.A distinctive feature of the school is its professional sports partnerships, notably with Brussels Basketball and the Garrincha Padel Club. These collaborations allow students to train in professional facilities and engage with elite athletes. Academically, the school utilizes an "atelier-based" approach to the arts and integrates technology through robotics and coding workshops. BIS also offers on-site boarding, catering to a community of over 50 nationalities. The curriculum is delivered in English, with dedicated support for English as an Additional Language (EAL) learners.
