Parent Experience

Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

Founded in 2007 by David Gerone, Montgomery International School began with a vision that no child should be left behind. In 2013, his wife Francesca Vona joined to manage the administrative side. The school adopted the International Baccalaureate programme in 2015. In 2022, MIS achieved the best IBDP score in Brussels, exceeding the global average by 5 points. In September 2023, MIS joined the Ermitage Educational Group, which includes ERMITAGE INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL (EIS) in Maison Lafitte and SAINTE VICTOIRE INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL (SVIS) in Aix en Provence; David Gerone stepped down from his role.

Community

At Montgomery International School, a school community is an essential part of the educational experience, with the relationships between students, teachers and parents being key to a safe, encouraging learning environment. A strong community encourages students to be engaged and to feel supported. Through a dynamic Parents' Association and activities such as field trips, cross-age tutoring, student‑teacher meetings, and family‑oriented events, students develop a sense of belonging and learn cooperation, responsibility and respect, which supports academic success. The school maintains parent communication through class representatives who share updates via dedicated WhatsApp groups.

Parent-Teacher Association

Montgomery International School Parents' Association is the school's body focused on fostering a sense of community and building strong connections between the school, faculty and parents. The Association organizes events throughout the year to bring the community together, including a Welcome New Families Picnic, Halloween Party, Saint Nicholas Party, Quiz Night, Happy Hour, Coffee Mornings, End-of-Year Picnic, Les 15km de Woluwé, Teachers' Appreciation Day, and an International Food Festival. A parent representative is appointed per class to share important updates from the school via dedicated WhatsApp groups, ensuring parents stay informed and connected.

Montgomery International School is an international IB World School for students aged 5 to 18, located in Brussels, Belgium. The campus occupies a 1907 building with a 500 m2 extension added in 2020 to accommodate Diploma Programme students. The school delivers the IB continuum—Primary Years Programme, Middle Years Programme and Diploma Programme—across two language tracks: an English-language programme with French as a second language, and an advanced bilingual English–French immersion option. In 2022 MIS achieved the best IBDP score in Brussels, outperforming the global average by five points. The campus features a science lab, a 3D printer, a bilingual library and dedicated spaces for theatre, research and study; DP students access the Brussels University library (ULB). External facilities support PE and sports at nearby venues, and theatre performances occur in professional Brussels houses. MIS joined the Ermitage Educational Group in 2023, reinforcing its international network and signature service-learning and university-counselling programs.
