Chapel School, founded in 1947 to serve American families in São Paulo, offers early childhood through high school with American, Brazilian, IB programs. Chapel School teaches American Curriculum, IB (DP) for students aged 3 to 17.
Early Childhood Education (ages 3 to 5) emphasizes social-emotional, cognitive, and physical development in a rich learning environment. The following programs are offered: Responsive Classroom and Morning Meetings; The Gold Assessment; The Creative Curriculum and All About Preschoolers Curriculum; Everyday Mathematics; Being a Writer; Visual Arts; and Music. A typical day includes a warm welcome and routines that support development through exploration, with nutrition and physical education integrated. The Elementary School (ages 6 to 11) centers on the student, with literacy and content taught in both English and Portuguese, and a curriculum that includes literacy, math, science, social studies, music, arts, religion, and technology; the curriculum highlights include NGSS for science and Being a Writer and Everyday Mathematics. Chapel Art shows and museum partnerships enrich art experiences, and technology is integrated across daily instruction. The High School (7th through 12th) provides electives starting in 9th grade and offers the International Baccalaureate program in 11th and 12th grades.

1. The school uses admissions forms and procedures to understand the individual contexts of applicants. Acceptance is decided based on information provided on the forms in conjunction with academic records, previous school recommendations, and results on standardized tests. Admissions take place at any time of the year from the beginning of August through June. The first semester begins in early August and ends in mid-December. 2. The second and final semester begins at the end of January and goes through mid-June. 3. The school accepts students applying to the second semester of 11th grade or the beginning of 12th grade if eligible to participate in the full IB program offered by Chapel School, which has prerequisites.
