Coree International School was founded in 2009 by SOCIESC (Sociedade Educacional de Santa Catarina). In 2015 SOCIESC split, and the school came under the governance of Instituto Core, a nonprofit educational and cultural entity. It was created to meet Joinville's demand for bilingual, internationally certified education, starting in 2009 with sixth grade and expanding over the years to Early Years and other levels. IB authorizations followed: Diploma Programme in 2013, Primary Years Programme in 2016, and Middle Years Programme in 2023, with Early Years launched in 2018 in 100% English immersion. Coree is the only IB Continuum school in Santa Catarina and part of a select group of 12 IB Continuum schools in Brazil; it is Joinville's only trilíngue school, teaching English, Spanish, and Portuguese, and is affiliated with the College Board to offer SAT and AP; it hosts Santa Catarina's leading Science Fair, with graduates earning IB and American High School diplomas and entering top universities.
Extracurricular activities are open to students and the community. Programs include swimming (from age 4 with playful, safety-focused instruction; youth and adult swimming from age 7 with technical coaching in all four strokes; a performance and development team for eligible athletes), theater, volleyball, judo, robotics, chess, ballet, dance, futsal, basketball, and recreational activities. The Coree Sports Center invites community members to visit and explore facilities and programs. A 2026 student calendar lists important dates and events for the year, updated February 2026.
PTA - Parent Teacher Association (Associação de Pais e Professores da Coree International School) values collaboration between parents and educators as a key to enriching the educational experience. The PTA plays a vital role in promoting a strong school community, supporting educational initiatives, organizing events, and strengthening communication between the school and families. It is composed of dedicated officers and members, including a President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, and other members. The PTA thanks its members for their commitment to Coree's educational and community goals.
Coree International School is an IB Continuum school in Joinville, Santa Catarina, Brazil. Founded in 2009 by SOCIESC and governed since 2015 by Instituto Core, it serves Brazilian identity within a framework. The school offers the IB Primary Years Programme, Middle Years Programme and Diploma Programme, alongside American curriculum, with inquiry-based teaching approach. A trilingual immersion program delivers English and Portuguese from Early Years, with Spanish added from year 8, culminating in Brazilian and international diplomas, including Triple Diplomas: Brazilian High School, American High School and IB Diploma. LEED Gold campus features secure entry, 35 classrooms, arts and music spaces, a library, an infirmary, and a dining area served by Sodexo, plus Go Home system and facial-recognition security. Extensive facilities support science, technology and arts, including eight laboratories and a heated semi-Olympic pool. Coree hosts Santa Catarina's Science Fair and is among Brazil's 12 IB Continuum schools; Joinville's trilíngue school.
