Admissions

How to apply, waitlist information, and financial support

Admissions Process

1. PYP and MYP admissions: There are no specific admission criteria or selection processes for students already enrolled at Beit Yaacov School to participate in the Primary Years Programme (PYP) or the Middle Years Programme (MYP). Participation is based on seamless educational continuity within the school, ensuring a continuous IB experience for current students. 2. DP admission criteria: Admission to the IB Diploma Programme (DP) in High School involves an application and selection process focused on evaluating student commitment and engagement, ensuring alignment with the program's rigorous academic standards. The DP admission process includes a set of participation conditions for eligibility. 3. Conditions for participation (DP): Students must be a Grade 9 Beit Yaacov student and have completed Middle School. They must demonstrate fluency in English, the official instructional language of the IBDP at EBY. They must complete all application steps, including submission of required materials and participation in interviews. Students with special educational needs are welcome to apply and Beit Yaacov provides qualified staff to support them, with accommodations available in line with IB regulations. 4. DP admissions process and steps: Information Sessions (August) explain the High School curriculum options (Brazilian National Curriculum BNCC and the IB Diploma Programme IBDP). After the general meeting, DP leaders hold individual meetings with Grade 9 students and families to provide further DP details. 5. Application requirements (mid-October deadline): A Google Classroom is created for the admissions process where applicants submit a Letter of Intent, explaining their motivation for joining the DP, and a 3-minute video answering the prompt “Why is the IBDP good for me?” Submitting neither item by the deadline results in automatic exclusion from the admissions process. 6. Engagement and committed questionnaire: All candidates complete a questionnaire focusing on student engagement and commitment, administered in the High School building under test conditions. 7. Interviews (October–November): Selected applicants are interviewed by the DP Coordinator and the College Counsellor to discuss the letter of intent, video submission, academic expectations, and willingness to undertake the DP. 8. Selection and notification (November): After the four-part application process, the High School leadership team reviews applications and makes final admission decisions; families receive a formal letter in November informing them of the decision. 9. Review cycle: Beit Yaacov School reviews its admissions policy every three years to ensure alignment with IB standards and Brazilian educational regulations; the last revision was March 2025 and the next is scheduled for March 2028.
