Founded in 1960 by educator Vera Maria Pinho Teixeira, Gurilândia began with the dream of applying her teaching experience to cultivate a lifelong love of learning and grew into a Brazilian educational reference. The school began bilingual education in 2011 and earned the IB Primary Years Programme certification in 2014, becoming the first school in the Northeast to offer the PYP. A Land School was founded in 2019 to guarantee a seamless progression from Gurilândia through the 5th grade. In 2020 Gurilândia International School joined Eleva Global Schools, and in 2021 a second campus opened in Pituba; in 2022 it joined Inspired Education Group, becoming part of a global network of premium schools.
Gurilândia operates across two Salvador campuses, Gurilândia Federação and Gurilândia Pituba, each offering age-appropriate facilities and a welcoming environment. It is a member of Inspired Education Group, connecting students to a global network of premium schools and international resources. The curricular framework includes the IB Primary Years Programme and a continued path to Land School, supporting a continuous educational journey from early years to higher levels. Students have opportunities for international camps and exchange programs, expanding horizons while immersed in diverse cultures and languages.
Escola Gurilândia is a bilingual international school in Salvador, Bahia, with two campuses serving ages 1 to 11. Inspired Education Group offers IB Continuum anchored by the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) alongside a bespoke Brazilian curriculum. The school blends national standards with the PYP, incorporating Singapore Mathematics and Reading and Writing Workshops from Columbia University, plus emotional intelligence classes and a focus on 21st‑century skills. The PYP certification, earned in 2014, made Gurilândia first school in Northeast to offer the programme. A Land School founded in 2019 ensures seamless progression through year 5.
