Parent Experience

Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

PASB was founded in 1960 at the Campo Grande campus. In 1967, a General Assembly established the Pan American School Association and founded PASB. Between 1971 and 1974, land donations and fundraising enabled relocation to the Patamares campus, with the transfer completed in 1974. The school expanded its facilities over time, including a new High School building in 1977, the first student to complete an entire PASB career graduating in 1978, and the addition of laboratories and an indoor sports court in the 1980s. PASB became an IB World School, with authorization for the IB Diploma Programme in 2012 and for the Primary Years Programme in 2019; the Early Childhood campus PASBinha opened in 2014, and a new campus project led by Perkins&Will began in 2021, with the first phase of the project delivered in 2024, including a Community Hub, and the PASBinha library opened in 2023.

Community

PASB is a learning community led by a non-profit parent association. The school fosters a global, collaborative culture with a calendar that features academic, cultural, and sporting events. Service Learning engages students in community projects to become agents of change. Alumni are welcomed back to share experiences and stay connected with PASB, and the Anita Barreto Lagesse Award recognizes exceptional parent contributions to PASB's future.

Parent-Teacher Association
