Wellbeing and Support

How students are nurtured, understood, and kept safe

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

Holistic Child Education, Digital Fluency, and Future Fluency underpin PASB's learning approach. Three Cs Based Education: Conceptual Learning, Competency Learning, and Character Learning build understanding, skills, and core values. International Mindedness fosters an inclusive mindset and autonomy as students interact in a diverse, global community. Empathetic leadership and collaboration are emphasized through a focus on social and emotional growth alongside academics. Service Learning—Becoming Agents of Change weaves community projects into PASB's culture to develop responsible, compassionate changemakers.

English as an Additional Language (EAL)

English is the official language of instruction; all classes across grade levels are taught in English. The exceptions are Brazilian History and Geography (Secondary School), Spanish (Secondary), and Portuguese (ECC, Elementary, and Secondary). Language—More Than Bilingual: Living English in a Multicultural Environment describes this living English approach. Students are encouraged to use English beyond the classroom in a multicultural setting. This daily immersion in English supports a global mindset.

Mental Wellbeing

A High School Social Emotional Counselor is part of PASB's staff. The counselor is listed as Ms. Ana Dulce Simões. The school presents itself as preparing students to face challenges as confident, principled global citizens in a safe, nurturing environment. A dedicated counselor indicates formal attention to student wellbeing within the high school program. Contact for the counselor is a.simoes@pasb.com.br.

Safeguarding

PASB maintains a Child Protection Policy to safeguard students and uphold their rights. All concerns and suspicions are taken seriously, and every member of the community is trained to follow safeguarding procedures. If abuse or neglect is suspected, the school reports to the local Conselho Tutelar in accordance with Brazilian law. The policy references the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child and describes definitions of abuse and neglect. In a report situation, the Superintendent may convene a Crisis Response Team to review procedures and ensure protection. Bullying and harassment are not tolerated and the school fosters a safe, respectful environment.
