The school was reborn after a large-scale project involving the private Cosmos Kids kindergarten, the residents of the village of Osoitsa in Gorna Malina municipality, and investor Ivan Nikolchev. Cosmos International School continues the vision of Cosmos Kids English Nursery and Kindergarten. It has nurtured the imagination and desire to learn in over 400 children for more than 14 years. The historic site includes a building project begun in 1926 by the mayor Dimitar Komitov, with Italian architects and builders; the school opened as Assen Zlatarov in 1930, featuring two towers and a clock mechanism. In 1955–1957 the Bulgarian Ministry of Education declared it the best school in the country for its processes, materials, and discipline, and the school remained open until 1989 when it was closed for lack of students.
