Wellbeing

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

The Collège Sainte-Marcelline centers every student within a values-driven, family-like community. Three core values guide daily life: benevolence, mutual aid, and engagement. Benevolence respects others, invites listening with compassion, and creates a climate where every student and staff member feels seen and free to grow. Mutual aid means not facing the journey alone; students, colleagues, families, and the school team support one another, forming a true community. Engagement is the daily commitment to participate fully in one's growth and in the life of the College, cultivating perseverance and a love of learning. The motto, "S'élever par le savoir. Rayonner par le cœur," acts as a compass balancing rigor with humanity.

Special Educational Needs (SEN)

The Marcelline pedagogy rests on proximity and example. Each student is accompanied in a personalized way within a caring and structured environment. Adults are inspiring presences who guide learning and growth. This family spirit creates a climate of trust that allows each person to surpass themselves and thrive. The approach fosters collaboration among students, teachers, families, and the school team to support every learner.

Mental Wellbeing

The Collège Sainte-Marcelline cultivates mental wellbeing through a climate of trust and belonging. Values of benevolence, mutual aid, and engagement guide daily interactions among students, teachers, and families. The pedagogy centers on proximity and supportive, personalized accompaniment in a caring and structured environment. This family spirit means students, teachers and families walk the journey together. The emphasis on respect, kindness, and active engagement fosters resilience, self-esteem, and positive social relationships. The approach blends academic rigor with humanity to help students grow emotionally as well as intellectually.
Parent Experience

History

The Collège Sainte-Marcelline traces its roots to the Institute International des Sœurs Marcellines, founded in Milan in 1838. It is part of an international network now active in eight countries across three continents, serving more than 25,000 students from early childhood through university. In Montreal, the college has benefited from this network since 1961, enriching students' experiences through cultural exchanges and a broader worldview. In Canada, the Sisters arrived in 1959 and founded Villa Sainte-Marcelline in Westmount; the current Collège building opened in 1967, with externs and boarders, followed by major expansions in the 1970s and the creation of the Residence l'Amitié Saraguay in 1974. In 2012, Robotique Marcelline was launched; in 2024 Carrefour Mosaïque, an intergenerational program, began; and in 2026 major renovations are underway, with the College also receiving the Innovation Prize from the Federation of Private Education Establishments for its AI ethics program, Marcelline for humanitarian AI.

Community

The Collège Sainte-Marcelline fosters a warm, family-like community where students from dozens of nationalities feel supported and valued. The Sisters Marcellines are at the heart of College life, transmitting the founding values of education: humanity, rigor, and openness to the world. The Sisters come from four countries—Canada, Italy, Mexico, and Cambodia—and guide generations of students. Since 1974, Residence l'Amitié Saraguay shares the campus with the College, giving rise to Carrefour Mosaïque, an intergenerational program uniting students and residents throughout the year.

Parent Teacher Association (PTA)

The Association des parents du Collège Sainte-Marcelline (APCSM) works closely with the educational team to support student life and contribute to the development of all students, acting as the voice of families to the administration. APCSM finances and manages annual projects for students, organized into four categories: academic, sports, cultural, and special projects. Academic projects include scholarships for science-competition winners and for academic achievement, as well as computers for orthopédagogical support. Sports and cultural projects cover equipment, uniforms, and facilities, including cross-country, Espadrille Week, and end-of-year celebrations, plus a sugar shack and library purchases. Special projects include teacher appreciation activities, open-house kiosks, a back-to-school coffee for parents, RAPEP involvement, and collaboration with the City of Montreal on Gouin Boulevard redevelopment since 2024; join by emailing assparentscollege@marcelline.qc.ca.
Facilities

Facilities Overview

Nestled in Bois-de-Saraguay, a heritage site recognized as the forest most preserved in Montreal, the College offers a peaceful and inspiring environment. From preschool through secondary, it presents programs that are unique in Quebec. MIAH, Marcelline for humanitarian artificial intelligence, Robotique Marcelline, and Carrefour Mosaïque are three programs unique in Quebec. The school's heritage setting and educational culture support a family-like community with high academic expectations.

Extra Curricular Facilities

What if AI were taught differently? MIAH, Marcelline for humanitarian artificial intelligence, is the only program in Quebec to train students in AI in an enlightened, ethical and responsible way, from preschool through 5ᵉ secondary. Awarded in 2026, MIAH redefines what it means to prepare young people for the digital age. Robotics program: Here, robotics is not reserved for technology enthusiasts; it is an integrated pedagogical tool from preschool onward. A passion that has carried our students to the world's top competitions and earned Robotique Marcelline, internationally, the title of best female team. From elementary to secondary, technology is a way to push oneself—and to change the world. Intergenerational program: Since 1974, Collège Sainte-Marcelline and Résidence l'Amitié Saraguay share more than a campus: they share daily life. From this proximity, Carrefour Mosaïque was born, an intergenerational program found nowhere else in Quebec where students and seniors meet, enrich themselves, and shine together throughout the year.
Extra-Curricular Activities

Academic & Intellectual

Simulation of United Nations General Assemblies (SIMONU) – bilingual – 4e and 5e secondaire. Delegations act as diplomats, representing countries and negotiating solutions on international issues. The program emphasizes public speaking, critical thinking, and collaboration. Our students participate mainly in SIMONU at Collège André-Grasset, Brébeuf, John Abbott and Vanier; some qualify for Harvard Model United Nations Canada (HarvardMUN Canada).

Arts & Creative

Chorale offers an immersive experience in collective music, focusing on vocal technique, breath control, and leadership through occasional choir direction, with a repertoire spanning baroque to jazz and international pop. The Marcy Dance troupe provides a dynamic platform for expression through choreography, exploring multiple styles while developing rhythm and stage presence. Both activities emphasize personal discipline, teamwork, and the joy of performance, fostering cultural appreciation and belonging within an artistic community.

Cultural & Language

SIMONU is bilingual for 4e and 5e secondaire, offering a platform for cross-cultural dialogue and international diplomacy. Students take on diplomatic roles, representing countries and negotiating solutions to international issues. The program promotes cross-cultural understanding, effective communication, and teamwork; some students qualify for HarvardMUN Canada.

Social & Hobbies

Reading Club offers a space in the library for literature lovers to share discoveries and discuss impressions, emphasizing free discussion and exploration of varied genres. It fosters critical thinking, open-mindedness, and a shared love of words. Board game Fridays invite students to the secondary library at Friday noon for a relaxed afternoon of strategy and cooperative games, strengthening friendships and cross-year connections.

Community & Service

Marcy Angels (Anges Marcy) embodies the Marcelline tradition of being present in the lives of others, simply and concretely. The group models Marcelline values through active involvement with those facing hardship or poverty, including Montreal's homeless, Moisson Montréal, and isolated seniors. They also contribute to causes they care about, guided by the motto 'Giving is receiving.'

Leadership & Professional

Red Cross 'Gardiens avertis' course – Secondary 1 and 2. The program equips students with essential skills to care for children with confidence and professionalism, including basic care, safety, and development awareness. It teaches prevention of dangerous situations and calm intervention in emergencies with age-appropriate first-aid knowledge. By developing leadership and responsibility, students earn a recognized certificate that supports their first guardianship services in the community.

Lifestyle & Wellbeing

Midis sportifs give students a chance to energize their midday break by using the gym in a recreational setting, with free or organized sessions across various sports. Fillactive is a Quebec-wide program aimed at encouraging girls to enjoy physical activity by trying a variety of sports and having fun together rather than competing. Cross country is a regional competition in which the College participates, with training leading to the Lac Saint-Louis regional in October and opportunities to reach the provincial championship.
