Fees

Annual tuition at Gray Academy of Jewish Education ranges from CAD 5,500 to CAD 19,425 for 2026/27.

Application fees and deposits
- A non-refundable deposit of USD 400 per child is due at the time of application/(re-)enrollment; this deposit is applied to the total Parental Contribution for the year.
- A non-refundable student fee of USD 180 per child is due at the time of application/(re-)enrollment (USD 90 for children in half-day Junior Kindergarten). This student fee is charged over and above the Parental Contribution and covers holiday programming, field trips, yearbooks and other special activities.
- For applications received after September 25 (late new applicants), the deposit and student fee are higher: a non-refundable deposit of USD 800 and a student fee of USD 360 per child are required.

Tuition (Parental Contribution) — annual fees by year group
- Kindergarten through Grade 12 (Parental Contribution) for 2026–2027:
- First and second child: USD 14,600 per child per year.
- Third and additional children: USD 9,900 per child per year.
- Junior Kindergarten Parental Contribution (2026–2027), per child per year:
- Morning Only (8:40 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.): USD 5,500.
- Morning plus Lunch (8:40 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.): USD 7,000.
- Full Day (8:40 a.m. – 3:20/3:30 p.m.): USD 12,200.
- Visiting international high‑school students (homestay program) — tuition:
- Full school year (September–June): USD 19,425.
- One semester (September–January): USD 9,725.
- Additional required international-student charges include a custodial fee (USD 1,000) and a monthly homestay fee (USD 750 for room and board with a host family).

Per-term billing and how tuition is charged
- Tuition at Gray Academy is charged as an annual Parental Contribution rather than on a term-by-term basis. Families receive a Statement of Account in the spring showing the annual balance owing for the coming year. Payment may be made in full or by monthly instalments; there is no standard per-term invoice schedule.

Billing schedule and payment terms
- Payment scheduling options:
- Pay in full: the full Parental Contribution may be paid in one lump sum by September 1. Credit‑card payments by a third‑party processor (Plastiq) are accepted but third‑party card fees may apply. Other accepted one‑time payment methods include electronic transfer, cheque, or securities transfer.
- Monthly payments: the Parental Contribution may be paid by pre‑authorized debit in 10 equal monthly instalments, debited on the first business day of each month from September through June. No interest or service charges apply to the monthly plan. Banking information must be provided by the school's deadline to complete monthly enrolment.
- Enrollment is not complete until required deposits/student fees are paid and/or banking information is on file. Statements of account are emailed in the spring prior to the new school year. Missing scheduled payments without acceptable arrangements can lead to withholding of report cards/transcripts, prohibition from activities or re‑enrollment, and accounts over 30 days past due accrue interest at 1.5% per month (compounded monthly). Dishonoured payments incur an administration fee (USD 40).

Boarding / homestay
- Gray Academy does not operate an on‑site boarding program; domestic students attend as day students. Visiting international high‑school students are placed with local host families and therefore pay homestay fees rather than boarding fees. Required homestay charges for visiting international students include a monthly homestay fee of USD 750 and a custodial fee of USD 1,000.

Other costs and common additional fees
- Student fee: USD 180 per child per year (USD 90 for half‑day JK), due at (re‑)enrollment and non‑refundable. This covers holiday programming, field trips, yearbooks and special activities.
- Uniforms: All students K–12 are required to wear school uniform; families purchase uniforms from the school's supplier (Top Marks). Spirit wear and special team items are optional; a typical Raiders sweatshirt is approximately USD 60 when offered. Pre‑loved uniform items are sometimes available at a reduced cost.
- School supplies: families supply grade‑specific school supplies annually; supply‑pack ordering is available for some grades. Estimated supply lists are provided by grade.
- Devices: school‑owned Chromebooks are provided for students in Grades 3 and 4; Grade 5–12 students must provide their own device for in‑class use and homework. A limited number of Chromebooks are available to borrow from the school library; families are responsible for repair/replacement costs for damaged or lost school devices.
- Co‑curricular and trip costs: many grade‑specific experiences (overnights, retreats, Spirit Weekends, graduation activities) are charged in addition to the Parental Contribution. Examples of approximate participant costs from recent schedules:
- Grade 5 overnight: USD 120; Grade 6 Shabbaton: USD 125; Grade 7 overnight outdoor trip: USD 275; Grade 8/9 Spirit Weekend: USD 235; Grades 10–12 retreat: USD 320; Grade 12 graduation festivities package: USD 900. These amounts are approximate and project‑specific charges are billed at time of registration.
- Optional Extended Hours & Supervision programs (before/after school, in‑service days, holiday programs) carry separate fees specific to the program and season and are billed in addition to the Parental Contribution.

Refunds and withdrawal fees
- Deposits and student fees are non‑refundable under all circumstances. Parental Contribution payments are treated as non‑refundable in the event of a full or partial school closure. In cases of withdrawal, written notice must be provided; withdrawal fees and amounts owing depend on the date of withdrawal:
- Prior to April 1: the school retains the non‑refundable deposit and student fee.
- April 1 – May 31: deposit and student fee retained; a withdrawal fee of USD 500 per student is due.
- June 1 – August 31: deposit and student fee retained; withdrawal fee of USD 500 per student; the first month of Parental Contribution per student is due.
- September–June (withdrawal during the school year): deposit and student fee retained; withdrawal fee of USD 500 per student; Parental Contribution for the month of withdrawal is due plus Parental Contribution for an additional four months.
- Expulsion or serious policy breach does not relieve parents/guardians of responsibility for the full annual Parental Contribution.

Fee payment methods and practical notes
- Accepted payment methods include:
- E‑transfer to the school finance email.
- Credit‑card payment via a third‑party processor (Plastiq); third‑party card fees apply and may be treated as a cash advance by some card issuers.
- Cheque payable to the Winnipeg Board of Jewish Education (submitted to the Gray Academy Finance Department).
- Pre‑authorized debit for families choosing the 10‑month monthly instalment plan.
- Dishonoured payments incur an administration fee (USD 40); late or missed payments can result in withheld records or suspension from activities, and overdue balances accrue interest at 1.5% per month (compounded monthly).

Bursary Assistance: The school offers need-based bursary assistance for Kindergarten through Grade 12. The program is administered through the Winnipeg Board of Jewish Education in partnership with Gray Academy, and applications are reviewed by the Assessment Committee. A Parental Contribution Calculator is available to help determine the Parental Contribution based on gross annual household income and the number of children. Several bursary types exist, including New to Canada Bursary Assistance for families new to Canada, with substantial reductions in Parental Contribution for eligible families for the 2024-2025 school year: New to Canada eligibility includes being new to Canada since January 1, 2024; 2023 annual income and anticipated 2024 income under CDN$100,000; total assets under CDN$100,000. For Kindergarten through Grade 12, the Parental Contribution for New to Canada is CDN$4,975 for the first child, CDN$2,825 for the second, and CDN$1,675 per child for the third and additional. New to Canada for Junior Kindergarten may be granted in cases of high financial need, but amounts are not published. Additional Bursary Assistance is available to families facing greater financial pressures; applications are evaluated annually with priority to those most in need, and the process requires completing the Bursary Assistance forms with supporting documentation including CRA Notice of Assessment. The deadline to apply for Bursary Assistance for the 2024-2025 school year was March 11, 2024. Applications for Bursary Assistance are available as fillable PDFs on the Gray Academy website; one application per family for each type of bursary; digital submissions may be sent to finances@grayacademy.ca. The Visiting International Student Program allows high school students to live with local families and attend Gray Academy; tuition is not government-funded and must be paid by families. Costs include CDN$17,500 for a full school year or CDN$8,750 for one semester, and include registration, fees, EAL, textbooks, and homestay start-up; additional costs include a full set of uniform pieces and possible co-curricular fees; visitors are not eligible for Bursary Assistance. Gray Academy emphasizes that no family is turned away due to the inability to cover the full Parental Contribution, supported by donors and endowments; the school provides Hebrew language learning, Jewish studies and Israel studies in addition to the Manitoba curriculum.
