Admissions

How to apply, waitlist information, and financial support

Admissions Process

1. Three application periods exist. The first is for the following academic year; this ordinary cycle starts in May and ends with enrollment in September. The second allows entry in the current year for levels with available seats, before or after the ordinary period. The third fills vacancies left by students who do not enroll and runs until mid-December. The admissions process is free for all applicants.

2. Minimum age requirements apply by March 31 of the entry year: Playgroup 3 years; Prekindergarten 4 years; Kindergarten 5 years; First Grade 6 years. Common documents required for all levels include the completed application form and the original birth certificate. Applicants with special educational needs (NEE) must provide documented evidence of permanent needs and/or disability from the first level, in accordance with applicable law.

3. Stages of the admissions process: The schedule with dates and deadlines is published at the start of the admissions period (typically in May). The applicant completes the Application Form and attaches the required documents; the form is available on the institutional site while the process is open. New families have an interview with the Director, which may be in person or conducted virtually via Google Meet; a reservation through the online form is required. The overall timeline and key dates are published for transparency.

4. Evaluation and selection: Ciclo Inicial: Observations are conducted by educators, the pedagogical support team, and ACOE professionals. The admission standards for Ciclo Inicial align with current Curricular Bases and require a minimum passing score of 60% across Personal and Social Development, Integral Communication, and Interaction/Understanding of the Environment. Each applicant receives an average score based on the assessment and remarks from the evaluators.

5. Evaluation and selection: Ciclos I and II: Applicants to 1st Year of Basic Education take an evaluation per the stated standards, with a passing threshold of 60%. Applicants from 2nd Basic through III Medio take language and mathematics tests that correspond to the programs of the Ministry of Education for the prior level, with a 60% passing requirement. All applicants participate in morning activities at their respective level to interact with peers and experience the school environment.

6. Assignment of seats: If the number of applicants exceeds available seats, seats are allocated according to the following priority order: a) sibling of a student already enrolled; b) child of a school employee with an indefinite contract; c) child of an ex-student; d) student transferring from another German-speaking school in Chile or abroad, or from a school offering International Baccalaureate programs; e) order of registration (including attached documentation).

7. Publication of results: The school informs families by email of the admission results. A list of accepted candidates for levels with available seats is posted at a visible location at the main entrance. If applicable, waiting lists are published as well.

8. Enrollment: After results are published, enrollment for accepted applicants must be completed within a maximum of 10 working days. If enrollment is not completed within this period, the seat is forfeited and the next candidate on the waiting list may be enrolled. The school may require additional administrative steps to finalize enrollment.

9. Complementary commitments: The school may voluntarily invite families to establish complementary commitments to support the student's leveling and/or additional assistance. These commitments are designed to aid inclusion and progress and may be implemented at the school's discretion to support the student.

Waitlist

Waitlist: If applications exceed available seats, vacancies are filled from a waiting list maintained by the school. The school publishes both the list of accepted candidates for levels with space and the waiting lists, and communicates results by email. Vacancies are filled from the waiting list as seats become available, following the same priority order used in the initial admissions process (siblings, staff, ex-students, transfers from other German-speaking schools or IB programs, then order of registration).
