The Instituto Alemán Carlos Anwandter, founded in 1858 by German immigrants in Valdivia, serves students aged 3 to 18. It offers a bilingual International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (DP) authorized in 2010, delivered within a unified curriculum framework. The IB DP complements the school's German guidelines focus for German schools abroad, with instruction supported by German teachers and funding from Germany. Students study German and English and can pursue Deutsches Sprachdiplom I and II (levels B1 and C1) as well as English proficiency exams such as PET, FCE, and CAE. Beginning in II Medio, three-month school exchange with German peers and two-week joint educational trip broaden understanding. The campus at Los Laureles 050, Isla Teja, Valdivia, includes Kindergarten, library, and Robotics Workshop, with sports facilities including synthetic football pitch and multiple gyms.
