Redland School was founded in 1965 and began operating in 1966 with a Kinder and First Year Basic class. During its first three years it ran in a rented house, and in 1969, with the sponsor Sociedad Comandita, it moved to its own facilities. Redland School was founded by Richard Collingwood-Selby and María Julia Ojeda Cabrera. After seven years and several trips to Great Britain, they decided to establish a school that would later bear the Redland name, and for almost 40 years they led it, today serving on the board with their children. The name 'Redland' means Free Land, a reference to Tierra Libre, and the Redland district in Bristol, England; the crest depicts a plow opening soil to sow, and the motto Strength Through Love and Truth expresses the school's philosophy.
Redland's Center of Parents and Guardians (CPA) links families with the school and plays a fundamental role in the Redland community. The CPA's 2025 plan emphasizes communication, commitment, collaboration, and transparency to empower parents to support the school's educational project and maximize parental participation. The CPA operates on three pillars—Convivencia Escolar, Educativo, and Comunicacional—promoting a safe, inclusive, and collaborative school climate with clear, timely communication. Its objectives include strengthening relationships, fostering an inclusive community, and maintaining open channels of communication between parents and the school.
The Center of Parents and Guardians (CPA) is Redland School's parent association. It is led by the Directiva Centro de Padres and includes Delegados de Curso 2025 to represent families. The CPA supports the school by promoting the Educational Project and by fostering participation across the entire school community. The 2025 Plan emphasizes communication, commitment, collaboration, and transparency to develop independent, empathetic, and socially responsible students. Three pillars—Convivencia Escolar, Educativo, and Comunicacional—guide CPA activities to ensure a safe, inclusive climate and open communication. Key objectives include listening to parents' concerns in assemblies, channeling those concerns to the school leadership, and turning them into concrete improvements. The CPA also aims to promote parental engagement in assemblies and school decision-making.
