The school offers 14 extracurricular workshops beyond the regular curriculum. Expresión escrita (Written Expression) for 7th and 8th grades, led by Mister José Sarmiento, develops reading and writing skills. Reforzamiento de química (Chemistry Reinforcement) targets I Medio and II Medio to strengthen science content. PAES (university entrance) preparation supports students in upper grades.
Guitarra inicial (Beginning Guitar) for 4th–6th grade develops musical skills. Taller de orquesta y/o Big Band (Orchestra and/or Big Band) and Taller de banda (Band Workshop) provide ensemble performance opportunities. Pintura (Painting) teaches drawing and painting for early and older students, including oil techniques for higher levels. Danza (Dance) promotes movement, coordination and choreographed performances.
The school offers Cambridge English Qualifications and is a Cambridge exam preparation center in the city. The exams align with the CEFR levels to test speaking, writing, reading and listening, and the certifications are widely recognized by universities and organizations. The school hosts Cambridge test preparation as part of its language program.
Basketball, football and volleyball are offered with age-group–based schedules and a focus on physical development and teamwork. Rhythmic gymnastics and dance provide additional movement-based activities that emphasize coordination and performance. Visual arts workshops like painting supplement creative expression and social engagement.
Kermesse Familiar is a family fair with course-level stands featuring games, food, crafts and activities. Feria Sell & Trade is an Economics elective fair where students buy and sell items. Ropero Solidario is a sale of uniforms and used clothing to support families and promote sustainable shopping. Assembly occurs monthly to strengthen school community and communicate news, while celebrating the national anthem and the school hymn.
Directivas de curso (parent course leadership groups) exist for each grade, with roles such as President, Secretary and Treasurer, and pastoral delegates. Assembly on the first Monday of each month brings together 1st through IV Medio to build school identity and share news. The school also offers entrepreneurship-oriented activities through electives like Feria Sell & Trade.
Life outdoors and exploration of nature are valued at The American School, with outdoor education emphasized across activities. The American School of Puerto Montt is a private, co-educational Catholic school serving PlayGroup through IV Medio.
