Facilities

Resources and spaces that support learning and development

Facilities Overview

The American School of Puerto Montt sits on a 1-hectare site with two building volumes, one two levels high and one three levels high, arranged around a central space. The 2007 expansion added classrooms, laboratories, workshops, and an administrative area. The facilities are built to North American high‑performance school standards, emphasizing thermal, acoustic, and visual comfort, good indoor air quality, and energy efficiency. Large windows and a central courtyard maximize natural light, complemented by energy‑efficient lighting and ventilation.

Sports Facilities

The campus includes a gymnasium used for basketball and rhythmic gymnastics, with activities also taking place in other gymnasia and multipurpose spaces. Outdoor canchas/courts are used for football and other field activities, as described in the activity programs. Some rhythmic gymnastics and dance take place in the gym or the preschool hall, depending on the activity.

Academic Facilities

The expansion provided classrooms, laboratories, workshops, and an administrative area. The facilities were designed under high‑performance standards to ensure thermal, acoustic, and lighting comfort, energy efficiency, and a healthy indoor environment. The building features a thermally efficient envelope with large windows for daylight, and mechanical systems including geothermal heating and radiant floors, plus ventilation with monitoring to maintain air quality.

Extra-Curricular Activities

The school offers 14 extracurricular workshops, including music (guitar, orchestra/big band, music room), rhythmic gymnastics, painting, dance, pastoral activities, and basketball and football. Activities are held in spaces such as the gym, music room, and preschool hall. The After School program operates in preschool facilities for PlayGroup to Pre‑K, with activities like crafts, cooking, early readers, psychomotricity, and recycling from 13:00 to 17:30, Monday to Friday.
