Uniform policy for Junior, Middle, and Senior cycles: Girls wear a traditional white blouse, an institutional tie, a gray official ABS sweater, an ABS-exclusive skirt or pants, gray socks, and black school shoes. Boys wear a white traditional shirt, an institutional tie, a gray official ABS sweater, navy blue trousers, dark socks, and black school shoes. A separate official sports uniform is worn for physical education and sports; the PE protocol provides gender-specific versions: girls wear a white polyester polo with a red stripe, blue leggings, and sneakers; boys wear a white polyester polo with red sleeves and blue side stripes, navy shorts, and sneakers. Exemptions may be granted for medical reasons or force majeure; pregnant students may adapt the uniform; uniforms must be labeled with the student's name and class. .
The Board of Directors is the governing body of The Antofagasta British School. It is composed of six members with two-year terms, elected by the General Assembly of Members of the Corporation. The Board appoints the Rector and oversees management, reporting to the General Assembly, which comprises all guardians (apoderados) of the school.
The Antofagasta British School is a private, non‑profit IB World School in Chile serving students aged 3 to 18. The school delivers the full IB continuum with a bespoke curriculum. ABS was founded in 1918 to educate children of English immigrants and is governed by the ABS Educational Corporation, a nonprofit formed by parents and guardians. Its campus on Pedro León Gallo Street hosts over 860 students, about 70 teachers and 40 support staff. Infant School offers bilingual education; Junior School uses a bilingual curriculum strengthened by the IB Primary Years Programme. Middle School combines a national curriculum with the IB Middle Years Programme, and Senior School aligns Chilean programs with the IB Diploma Programme, including Extended Essay, TOK and CAS. Extra programs include sports, theatre, dance, graphic design, robotics, journalism and science clubs, plus student leadership through CEAL. The school also emphasizes international mindedness and community engagement for all.
