3e International School grew out of a 2004 conversation between Dr Yong Zhao and Gilbert Choy and a subsequent design seminar hosted by the George Lucas Educational Foundation at Skywalker Ranch, which led to the school's founding. The school opened in August 2005 with three pre‑kindergarten children and expanded to include nursery, kindergarten and elementary grades in the following years. Key milestones on the school's timeline include opening elementary grades in 2008, joining the Council of International Schools in 2010, and a revision of its bilingual math curriculum in 2014. In 2017 3e opened a new elementary campus (shared with LFIP), and in 2023 the early years and elementary programs were integrated on a single campus.
3e describes the school community as a close partnership between school and home, with families joining a shared program of bilingual learning and social development. Family events are scheduled throughout the academic year to promote cultural sharing and interaction between classes and age groups. Recent examples on the school's event calendar and news feed include Explore Day and Families Around the World, and class excursions such as visits to a local animal museum. The school also publishes regular parent-facing items such as testimonials and event summaries to keep the community informed.
The school's parent body is organized as a Parent Council made up of parents representing the whole student population; the Council's stated mission is to engage representative parents, foster community relations, leverage parents' expertise, and structure fundraising for school or charity purposes. The Parent Council represents parent perspectives to the school and helps coordinate community connections and volunteer efforts. 3e runs a monthly series called Tea Talks in which staff and invited community members present on topics such as child development, parenting and health care to share resources with families. The Council and school calendar also support signature family events—examples on the site include Explore Day, Families Around the World, and seasonal activities (alumni and parent accounts mention events such as a Winter Bazaar). For current membership, meeting times and active subgroups, the school's Community or Events pages provide the latest details.
3e International School is a non-profit bilingual day school (Nursery through Elementary) founded in August 2005. The school operates a research-based dual-language immersion program that splits each day between English and Mandarin instruction and includes specialist classes (art, music, PE and French at Elementary). The elementary programme notes alignment with the Chinese National Curriculum, American Common Core standards, British language-art approaches and Singapore mathematics practices. The Lido campus houses Nursery–Kindergarten programmes; the school cites interactive scientific exhibits (from the Exploratorium) in its learning spaces and runs a term-by-term After-School Activities programme offering sports, music, arts, academic and cultural classes. 3e reports a student body of over 200 children from more than 20 countries.
