Parent Experience

Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

AISB–Hope International was established in August 2012 as a PK–12 international school. The school operates under the AISB (Australian International School of Beijing) license, which it lists on its website to comply with People's Republic of China regulations. Over its years of operation the school has emphasized a small-school model located to the east of Beijing and has highlighted a relationship with local faith groups as part of its founding character. The school site describes a focus on character development alongside academic and extracurricular programmes.

Community

The school describes a student body drawn from more than 15 countries and a classroom programme taught primarily in English, with elective arts, music and athletics offerings listed under student life. Secondary students have an active Student Council that raises funds for causes, plans student events, and meets with senior leaders to discuss student life. The website also highlights community and service as part of the school's values and notes regular extracurricular clubs and events that connect students, staff and families.

Parent-Teacher Association

The school website does not publish a dedicated Parent Teacher Association page or an official PTA constitution; instead, parents receive a Parent–Student handbook and are invited to contact admissions or the Head of School for questions. School communications point parents to admissions, campus contact channels and the Parent–Student handbook for policies and participation details, and school-run activities (tours, open days, concerts, sports and service events) are the primary ways parents are mentioned as engaging with the community. Given the absence of a named PTA on the public site, parents who want specific information about volunteer roles, fundraising committees or a parent committee are advised to reach out directly to the admissions office or the Head of School office listed on the site.

AISB–Hope International opened in August 2012 and is located in the east Chaoyang District of Beijing; the school moved to its current location in 2019. The school uses a U.S.-based curriculum (modified Common Core) and is an AP (Advanced Placement) school and testing centre; most classes (except foreign language classes) are taught in English. The school runs an English Plus programme for English-language learners and publishes an annual tuition and fees schedule. Class sizes are described on the school site as typically ranging from 6–12 students; the secondary section lists facilities including two libraries, two science labs, a computer lab, music and art rooms, and outdoor sports areas. The website highlights the AP/college-prep pathway and the English Plus support as distinctive academic features.
