Beanstalk Chengdu follows the IB framework across PYP, MYP, and DP. The PYP (ages 3-12) uses six interdisciplinary units of inquiry to develop inquiry, analysis, and problem-solving within a bilingual, cross-disciplinary program. The MYP provides a coherent curriculum across subjects including Chinese and English language, mathematics, sciences, and art (Music and Visual Art) plus Design and PE/Health Education. The DP pathway, along with options such as A-Level and HKDSE, provides broad university preparation; Western culture classes and integrated interdisciplinary study expand learning beyond core subjects.
Arts and creative activities include dance and drama, calligraphy, and Chinese martial arts (Wushu) as part of the curriculum. In the IB MYP, Art includes Music and Visual Art, integrating artistic practice with the broader interdisciplinary program. The campus also supports arts through dedicated studios and cross-disciplinary projects within the IB framework.
Western culture classes are offered and the program is bilingual and interdisciplinary, broadening horizons beyond core subjects. The IB framework promotes global-minded citizenship and appreciation for diverse cultures, while the school's mission emphasizes Chinese roots and a global vision. The Diploma Programme and other pathways prepare students for international higher education and cross-cultural study.
Beanstalk Chengdu offers an after-school activities program (ASA) from 4:00 to 5:00 pm, with activities hosted by BIBS teachers and external providers. ASA includes drama, music, and sports, and students can choose courses aligned with their interests and development. The ASA is designed to complement classroom learning and runs on school days.
The IB framework includes PE and Health Education as part of the MYP. The DP emphasizes personal, social and emotional well-being as part of a balanced education. ASA and sports activities contribute to ongoing physical fitness and overall wellbeing; well-being is considered a core aspect of student success.
