Let the school know you're thinking of applying — they can share their prerequisites and help you through the process.
It's best to ask — circumstances can change at any time.
The Deutsche Botschaftsschule Peking began operating in 1978 in an apartment in the Jianguomenwai diplomatic quarter, with one teacher and a cross‑grade class. In 1990, it moved to premises in the Lido complex to accommodate growing enrollment. By the end of 1992, the school had achieved recognition for its 9th and 10th grade diplomas within the German education system. In November 1994, it was officially recognized as a German Auslandsschule by the Kultusministerkonferenz. The current campus on Liangmaqiao Lu 49A opened in 2004 with capacity for over 330 pupils, and the school is run by the Deutscher Schulverein Peking."
The school serves students from about 20 nationalities and acts as the center of the German community in Beijing. A wide range of clubs (Arbeitsgemeinschaften) and activities involve both students and parents, supporting intercultural language development in English and French, with Chinese language programs as part of the curriculum. The campus features two modern libraries, a flexible bus service, and a well‑equipped school shop, and it offers more than 80 extracurricular activities. The school emphasizes community engagement, providing opportunities for families to participate in school life beyond classroom learning."
The Deutsche Botschaftsschule Peking has a formal parent involvement structure led by a board (Vorstand) that coordinates engagement with families. The PTA collaborates with the school on a variety of activities and events, supported through regular communications and volunteer opportunities. Mentoring groups (Patengruppen) and a broad set of after‑school clubs (Arbeitsgemeinschaften) actively involve both students and parents in campus life. Parents participate in key events such as the Elternabend for transitions from Grade 4 to Grade 5, and the PTA supports large‑school initiatives such as Project Week and the Berufspraktikum (work experience) program for Sekundarstufe I. The association maintains ongoing communication through Mitteilungen and the school calendar, aligning parental involvement with school planning."
