IST operates three 10-week seasons of Co-Curricular Activities (CCAs) for KG3 through Grade 12. The program includes academic enrichment options such as math and science clubs, and technology experiences including robotics and Extended Reality (XR). Classroom-extension experiences also include Model United Nations and Education for Sustainability clubs. CCAs are organized via the SchoolsBuddy platform, which provides the activity overview and schedules after registration.
IST offers extensive arts experiences beyond the classroom, including choirs, orchestras and ensembles, and peripatetic instrumental lessons. The program also includes school productions with opportunities to work on performance, sound and light, and set design. Speech and drama activities are available, alongside visual art experiences such as ceramics and painting. These arts offerings are integrated with IST's Performing Arts programs across elementary and secondary levels.
Language clubs, including foreign languages, are part of IST's co-curricular offerings. Model United Nations is available as a classroom-extension activity, promoting debate and global affairs. These programs support intercultural awareness and communication skills through after-school activities and student leadership opportunities.
Active Pursuits and other CCAs provide a range of after-school physical and recreational activities. Options commonly include rock climbing, ball games, yoga, ultimate frisbee, gymnastics, ice skating, martial arts, horse riding and general fitness. Activities vary by season and are designed to complement academic study and overall well-being.
IST's community and service offerings include Action Groups, Literacy Lab and Media at IST (MIST). The Literacy Lab is a student-managed center with over 40 volunteer coaches providing support in reading, writing, note-taking and presenting across multiple languages. MIST is a student-led news and media organization with over 30 volunteers producing a livestream newscast regularly. Participation in service activities is integrated into CCAs and many programs are offered at no additional cost.
Student leadership is developed through structures such as the Student Council. IST offers leadership programs and mentorship opportunities, with CCAs and service clubs fostering communication, collaboration and professional skills. Participation in school-wide projects provides practical experience in planning, teamwork and responsibility.
IST's athletics program provides opportunities in football, basketball and volleyball, plus individual events in track, cross-country, table tennis and more, within ISCOT, ISAC and ACAMIS leagues. In addition to competitive sports, CCAs include wellness-oriented activities such as yoga and other fitness programs. The campus offers extensive facilities including a gymnasium, running track and dedicated spaces to support physical and mental health.
IST is a non-profit, parent-governed international day school offering IB programmes. It operates on a large campus in Tianjin's southeastern Jinnan District, with two main purpose-built buildings (Qin and Han) and extensive facilities.
