Léman International School Chengdu (LIS) was founded in 2009 as a premium international school in southwestern China. The campus spans about 50 acres in the Tianfu New Area to accommodate a diverse student body. In December 2011, the Ministry of Education approved LIS Chengdu to operate as an international school for foreigners. In 2014, LIS Chengdu received authorization to offer the International Baccalaureate programme, followed by authorization for the IB Middle Years Programme in 2020. In 2015, Nord Anglia Education acquired LIS Chengdu from Meritas, integrating it into its global network.
LIS Chengdu sits within Nord Anglia Education's global community, with on‑campus students representing more than 30 nationalities. The school collaborates with The Juilliard School, MIT, and UNICEF, linking classroom learning to world-class opportunities via the Global Campus platform. It is a member of ACAMIS and CISA, hosting tournaments and participating in regional events for Chengdu's international schools. The school also features a house system and a weekly Model United Nations club, with the campus hosting an annual MUN event.
The Léman Family Association (LFA) is a parent-run association that collaborates with the school to promote school spirit, enrich cultural diversity, and make the LIS experience positive and fun. Membership is automatic for all LIS parents/guardians, and the LFA committee is volunteer‑led, serving as a liaison between parents and the school. The LFA organizes a range of events and activities throughout the year, including social gatherings, sports support, traditions and celebrations, International Day, student awards, and teacher appreciation events. It provides a volunteer form and guidance on how parents can get involved, including homeroom‑level volunteering and event support. Through the LFA, LIS families help fundraise and contribute to school life, strengthening home–school partnerships.
