The school does not run a campus-wide bilingual program; instead, German is offered through a German Mother Tongue Programme for German-speaking students, with German mother tongue sessions integrated into the Primary Years Programme and additional after-school classes. In the IB framework, German A, English A, Mandarin A, and Korean A begin in the Middle Years Programme (Grade 6), and bilingual IB diplomas are available in these languages as part of the Diploma Programme. An English Language Learning (ELL) team provides targeted support for English language learners within the regular learning environment.
NIS emphasises immersion in Chinese culture and Mandarin study as part of its language programmes, with authentic Mandarin study integrated into the IB language offerings. Mandarin is taught within the comprehensive IB Language Programmes, providing language and cultural immersion throughout the school. For languages not offered in the regular day program, classes are provided by the parent community outside regular school hours. In Secondary, Discover China Week offers experiences that connect classroom learning with real-life Chinese contexts.
