The school is an IB World School offering the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) and the IB Diploma Programme (DP). IBMYP was authorized in 2006 and IBDP in 2015. The elementary curriculum uses the IPC (International Primary Curriculum) with English and Chinese sections, including Language Arts, Math, Chinese/Mandarin, IPC, and six specialty subjects (Music, Art, Drama, STEM, PE, Library). The MYP includes eight subject groups: Language and Literature, Language Acquisition, Mathematics, Sciences, Individuals and Societies, Arts, Design, and Physical and Health Education, and the Personal Project is part of the programme. The DP core comprises Theory of Knowledge (TOK), Extended Essay (EE) and Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS). The Chinese Section uses local teaching materials; the English Section uses original US teaching materials. There are about 2,100 students in total, with roughly 1,700 local students and about 400 in the international division.
The elementary curriculum includes six specialty subjects: Music, Art, Drama, STEM, PE, and Library, alongside core subjects like Language Arts and Math. JCID supports electives and extended learning, including ESL/CSL, ECA and After School Programme (ASP). The school hosts arts- and science-focused events such as Art Festivals and Science Fairs, and MYP Week highlights education philosophy through artistic and creative activities. Student clubs include Electric Band, Chinese chess, card games and hockey, fostering creative and performing arts interests.
JCID comprises a Chinese Section and an English Section; the English Section uses original US teaching materials, while the Chinese Section uses local teaching materials. In the IB framework, students in the MYP study at least two languages (Language and Literature, Language Acquisition) to support intercultural understanding. The school offers cultural experiences such as cultural tours and experiences of Shanghai, and provides a college counselling platform (UNIFROG) for MYP/DP students via a dedicated College Center.
Student life includes a range of clubs and activities, such as an electric band, Chinese chess, card games and hockey, along with performances and celebrations like Halloween events and school-wide activities. Mental health counseling is available for students, teachers and parents, with programs to support well-being and resilience. The After-School Programme (ASP) runs from 4:15 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. on weekdays and offers language, cultural, arts, crafts, sports and recreation activities; an ASP Fair is held each semester. Graduation ceremonies occur annually in June, and the school yearbook is a collaborative project between teachers and students, reflecting the school's emphasis on overall well-being and balanced development. The school also promotes regular cultural and athletic events, including sports festivals and Christmas celebrations.
Shanghai Jincai High School International Division (JCID) was established in 2000 and is located at No. 26 Eshan Road in Pudong, close to Century Park; the international division is part of the larger Jincai High School campus. JCID operates a Chinese section (using the national curriculum) and an English section (using original US materials) and is authorized by the International Baccalaureate Organization; it offers the IPC in primary grades, the MYP (authorized 2006) and the IBDP (authorized 2015). The international division is reported on the school site as having about 400 students; the wider Jincai High School enrolment is given as about 2,100 students. JCID's site notes a Co-Principals and co-teaching model and identifies the school as a Base School for international promotion of Chinese (Hanban). For transport, the school publishes a paid school-home bus service with several route/price bands.
