The school sits on an 18-acre campus in Qingpu District designed by Weimar Architects of the Bauhaus University, purpose-built to meet the school's needs. There are multiple outdoor playgrounds and green areas across the site. The facilities support a holistic learning environment with spaces for design, robotics, digital learning, and performing arts.
The campus features a professional Astroturf football field and a running track. There are two swimming pools on site. An indoor gymnasium and a gymnastics studio support PE and athletic activities. A professional climbing wall provides vertical challenges for students. Several sizable outdoor playground areas support outdoor activities.
The academic facilities include Design & Robotics Labs, MAC & PC Labs, and iPad & Laptop Stations for student use. Fully equipped Science & Technology Laboratories support hands-on learning. Bright, spacious classrooms and flexible learning spaces provide environments for different teaching approaches. The campus provides dedicated facilities for Lower Elementary, Elementary, and Secondary students.
The WISS Academy provides extension opportunities in sports, arts, and academics. It serves students aged 4–18 and adults. Classes include Football, Badminton, Swimming, Volleyball, Basketball, Music, Visual Art, Musical Theatre, and Dance, as well as STEAM programmes. It operates in a single location with dedicated facilities for these activities.
Western International School of Shanghai (WISS) is an IB Continuum school on an 18-acre campus in Xujing (New Hongqiao). WISS opened on 6 September 2006 and offers the full IB continuum: PYP, MYP, DP and the IBCP. The school publishes annual tuition in RMB and includes lunch, textbooks, student support and a complementary uniform allowance in its fees. The campus is described by the school as a short drive from the Hongqiao transport hub, Hongqiao Airport and the NECC, with about 30 minutes to downtown Shanghai. WISS lists four institutional pillars—Academics, Sports, Arts and Community Service—and runs an after-school activities programme that includes orchestra and choir, debate, robotics and a broad athletics programme. The school operates a paid bus service and accepts students from Pre-Nursery (age 2.5) through Grade 12 (secondary).
