YCIS Chongqing offers academically oriented activities beyond the classroom. The inaugural YCYW Model United Nations was hosted December 6–8, 2024, providing students with a platform to simulate diplomacy, develop public speaking, and engage with global issues. Through the Seeds of Hope program, RMB 110,000+ has been invested in 10 student-led projects across grades, including Primary Garden, Path of Kindness, and Print Pioneers, spanning mental health, sustainability, technology, and community care. These activities promote research, collaboration, and problem-solving beyond regular classwork.
YCIS Chongqing supports cross-cultural engagement through international exchanges and multicultural events. On March 17, 2025, YCIS Chongqing hosted Dashun Middle School students for a cultural exchange featuring poetry recitation, campus exploration, and intercultural dialogue, followed by a Cultural Workshop with knowledge competitions and interactive games centered on multicultural communication. The school also hosts Model United Nations and other international activities to foster global citizenship and cross-cultural awareness.
Beyond academics, the school offers co-curricular activities through a broad program of clubs and groups. YCIS Chongqing is a member of ACAMIS and SCISAC, enabling participation in regional sports tournaments. In November 2023, YCIS Chongqing signed a partnership with YUE Sports Center to provide high‑level sports programs and competitive opportunities for students. These partnerships support teamwork, fitness, and opportunities to pursue personal interests beyond the classroom.
Community service and social responsibility are integrated through the Seeds of Hope program, which funds 10 student-led projects across grades with grants totaling over RMB 110,000. Projects include Primary Garden, Path of Kindness, and Print Pioneers, focusing on mental health, sustainability, technology, and community care. The program provides mentorship and resources to implement ideas with real-world impact.
Leadership is cultivated through activities such as Model United Nations, which develops public speaking, negotiation, and teamwork. The Seeds of Hope grants also foster project leadership and cross-grade collaboration on student-driven initiatives. The Careers and University Guidance Office supports career development and university planning for graduates, providing mentoring and professional skills-building opportunities.
Sports and fitness are supported through partnerships like the YUE Sports Center, offering high-level programs and opportunities to compete in ACAMIS and SCISAC events. Seeds of Hope activities include mindfulness sessions and wellness-focused initiatives such as lunchtime mindfulness, contributing to student wellbeing. The school emphasizes physical and mental health as part of a holistic educational approach.
Yew Chung International School of Chongqing (YCIS Chongqing) is an international day school for expatriate families, serving students aged 3–18 (K3 to Year 13). It was established in 2001 and is the first international school registered with the Chinese Ministry of Education in Chongqing. The campus sits in the Chongqing International School Garden in the Liangjiang New Area, between the airport and the city centre with easy access. YCIS Chongqing offers a bilingual English–Chinese program led by Western and Chinese co-principals across Early Childhood, Primary and Secondary, with the IB Diploma Programme in upper secondary and Cambridge IGCSE in lower secondary. The student–teacher ratio is about 5:1, and learners come from more than 26 nationalities with over 50 co-curricular activities. Its music and arts programs are supported by the In-School Instrumental Programme.
