Parent Experience

Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

Yew Wah International Education Schools (YWIES) are part of the Yew Chung Yew Wah (YCYW) network, a group with historical roots in the Yew Chung schools founded in 1932; Yew Wah as an organisation began expanding on the Chinese mainland from the late 1990s. The Yew Wah International Education Centre was established in 1998 and the first YWIES campus opened in Yantai in 2000, after which the YWIES network grew to include multiple mainland campuses. The Beijing Yizhuang campus is shown on the school site with a founding year of 2016 and is operated within the wider YCYW network structure. Governance and leadership are organised through the YCYW/Yew Wah school network rather than as an independent single-campus trust or owner.

Community

YWIES Beijing describes a bilingual, co-taught learning community and participates in regular cross-campus activities organised across the YCYW network. The school publishes frequent news items about student participation in competitions, concerts and school festivals, and it takes part in network-wide commemorations such as the annual Founder's Day. Family involvement is visible in many on-campus events (for example Kite Day) and in school concerts and academic competitions that bring students, staff and parents together.

Parent-Teacher Association

The school's published material emphasises a Partnership with Parents model: newsletters, regular reports on student learning and scheduled parent meetings are used to keep families informed and involved. Parents are invited to participate in and support on-campus activities — examples on the site include Kite Day, music events and student project showcases — and volunteers commonly assist at such events. YWIES Beijing also highlights network-level community projects and celebrations (Founder's Day, network concerts) where parents often play a supporting role. The site does not present a single-page description labelled “PTA”; instead, parent engagement appears to be organised through formal parent meetings, event volunteering and school communications. For context, other schools in the same YCYW network (for example YCIS Beijing) operate active parent organisations that run bazaars, charity drives and seasonal social events, indicating that parent volunteer groups are a common feature across the network.

Yew Wah International Education School of Beijing (YWIES Beijing Yizhuang) opened in 2016 and is located within the B&P International Education Park in Beijing Yizhuang, part of the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area. The school provides bilingual (Chinese–English) programmes from early childhood through secondary and runs internationally recognised secondary routes including IGCSE and A Level courses. The campus promotes a co-teaching bilingual model in early years and primary classes and highlights two requisite programmes for all students: violin and swimming. YWIES Beijing lists a wide co-curricular programme (over 60 activities) and describes collaborative, inquiry-based learning across subject areas. For admissions and detailed tuition/fee information parents are directed to the Admissions team on the school website.
