Aspaen Iragua was founded in 1968. In 1984–85 it earned the Andrés Bello Diploma of Honor for the highest state exam scores, awarded by the Ministry of Education and ICFES. The Department of Family Collaboration was created in 1985, and in 1996 the school received the Simón Bolívar Award for Educational Merit from the Ministry of Education. In 1998 it became the first Aspaen school to affiliate with the International Baccalaureate and to establish the Aspaen computer network, and in 2004 began implementing the EFQM Quality Model.
Aspaen Iragua is a nonprofit that directs a network of schools and preschools in 10 cities across Colombia, promoted by parents. The community is a family of teachers, students, and parents that maintains the Aspaen identity and lives a mission to serve society. The site includes CORPADE and Alumni sections, reflecting governance and ongoing alumni engagement within the Aspaen network.
The Department of Family Collaboration was created in 1985 to promote active family involvement. Aspaen Iragua is part of a parent-promoted network. CORPADE is the national board of Aspaen. There is an Alumni section with Benefits and News and Events, and a data update feature. These elements show a strong framework for family participation in school life.
Aspaen Gimnasio Iragua is a not-for-profit community school in Bogotá offering Cambridge Secondary and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. Cambridge Assessment International Education is integrated with the IB framework, with some subjects taught in a second language and taught to international standards. The IB Diploma Programme forms part of the curriculum, encouraging students to pose complex questions, develop a strong personal and cultural identity, and connect with peers from different countries. The school pursues curricular internationalization and innovation, supported by the EFQM Quality Model and NOVUS/NOVUS A+ life-skills projects that connect academic topics to affectivity, health and family involvement. Faith-based values, leadership development, creativity and a culture of freedom and respect underpin daily life. Founded in 1968, Aspaen Iragua has earned recognitions such as the Andrés Bello Diploma of Honor and the Simón Bolívar Award. Bogotá campus sits at Calle 170 # 76-55, near Avenida Boyacá and Calle 170 today.
