The Anglo was founded in 1956 by a group of Colombian and British citizens. It is a private, coeducational, non-denominational institution committed to quality and to forming students who are well-rounded. It is one of the pioneers in Colombia in implementing the International Baccalaureate curriculum from pre-kindergarten through grade 11, and has been accredited by CIS since 1998. The Anglo blends tradition and innovation with a focus on safety and well-being, and on providing the best opportunities and tools for its students. The Fundación Colegio Anglo Colombiano has a robust governance structure led by the Superior Council, with members elected by parents and other co-opted members to preserve the school's DNA and strategic plan.
The Anglo uses a house system with four houses named Beatty, Hood, Nelson, and Rodney, and a House Cup is awarded to the winning house. Inter-house events include annual dances featuring national and international styles, Sports Day, and Declamation and Singing, as well as Debates. CACMUN (Model United Nations) and TEDx ColegioAngloColombiano provide student-led forums for leadership, research, and public speaking. Extracurricular activities span music, sports, cooking, robotics, LEGO, football, skating, ballet, gymnastics, and more, offered before and after school to broaden opportunities and friendships.
The Fundación Colegio Anglo Colombiano has a robust governance structure led by the Superior Council, with members elected by parents and other members co-opted. The Superior Council designs directives and short-, medium-, and long-term plans, with the rector and leadership implementing these with the academic and administrative teams. The Governing Council of Government School includes representatives from all school segments and annually approves modifications to the Institutional Educational Project. The Parents' Council, the Teachers' Council, the Academic Council, and student leadership roles such as Prefects and House Captains are central to the collaborative work of creating and implementing strategic objectives and ensuring all voices of the Anglo community are heard. The school is a non-profit institution and employs a robust team of local and international professionals to support safety, well-being, and learning.
