Spanish is the mother tongue; English is taught as a second language within a bilingual framework; Portuguese is taught as a third language starting in grade eight. English is introduced from pre-kindergarten and reinforced through primary and secondary, with a target of B2 or C1 proficiency by graduation. Cambridge KEY level A2 or higher is targeted in primary, and IELTS B2 or higher for Diploma IB students. In the Diploma IB years, English Language and Literature and English B are taught according to IB guidelines.
