The school offers a rigorous academic program complemented by the Comprehensive Values Education (FINES). The FINES curriculum develops life skills alongside the academic program, focusing on self-awareness, self-control, self-management, and the ability to read contexts and build relationships. High school students can access Advanced Placement (AP) courses across key subjects to earn college credits. The pedagogy centers on Teaching for Understanding (TfU), with student-centered classrooms, ongoing self- and peer assessment, and teacher guidance to deepen understanding.
Arts and music are prominent in the extracurricular program. Visual arts include ceramics, plasticine modeling, drawing, photography, and mini-Steam projects, with hands-on workshops such as ceramics and jewelry making. The Performing Arts program features Musical theater, Guitar, Drums, Piano, Violin, Cello, Trumpet, Flute, Clarinet/Sax, and Ukulele, with a Banda led by students that competes in Batuta de Plata. These activities foster creativity and provide broad opportunities for artistic expression.
International Programs are anchored by Round Square since 2015, linking Colegio Los Nogales to a network of over 200 schools in 50 countries and promoting IDEALS: Internationalism, Democracy, Adventure, Leadership and Service. Summer Programs enable participation in global experiences to explore vocational interests, engage in leadership or service activities, or be immersed in another language. Gap Year Opportunities offer six-month or one-year placements at Round Square schools with salary, lodging and meals. Transfers to foreign schools are supported, including help with selecting schools and sending grades and recommendations.
A broad range of sports and recreational activities is offered, including soccer, basketball, volleyball, chess, table tennis, gymnastics and athletics. Other extracurriculars include karate and a programming and robotics club for 7th–11th grades, expanding students' teamwork and problem-solving outside the classroom. The program also includes student-led and community-based activities that support personal interests and social engagement.
Social Service is a core element of the FINES curriculum that seeks to create a culture of community service, with programs such as Traveling Symphony, Building Dreams, Donations, Boxes of Love and Alumni Who Serve. Optional programs include Camp Nogalitos, Student Volunteers, Social Laboratory and Leadership Activity. Graduation‑requirement programs include Service Days, Retreats and social service projects, culminating in a year-long social service experience in High School.
Round Square IDEALS promote Internationalism, Democracy, Adventure, Leadership and Service as daily school life. Summer Programs and Gap Year Opportunities provide leadership experiences, including roles such as teaching assistants, library assistants, or dormitory and activities staff. Career counseling and International Programs staff support students in pursuing global opportunities and future professional paths.
FINES focuses on four life‑skills areas—Self-awareness, Self-control, Self-management and Self-regulation—with emphasis on reading the context and building relationships. The Caminatas program, begun in 1987, fosters physical, social, cultural and emotional growth as students travel Colombia on foot, with progressively challenging itineraries. Technology integration and research are used to develop 21st‑century skills and to support well‑being within a global, digital learning environment.
Colegio Los Nogales is a private, non‑profit, coeducational day school serving ages 4 to 18. The curriculum blends a rigorous college‑preparatory program with FINES, Comprehensive Values Education, which builds life skills and guides students' life plans within the school's mission. In high school, AP courses earn college credits and are taught in smaller classes of 15–18 students with 60‑minute periods and semiannual final exams. The school offers a bilingual Spanish–English program with a third language option (French or Portuguese). The campus houses purpose‑built facilities for learning and the arts, including the Centro de Artes José María de la Torre, the Luisa Pizano Library (about 1,500 m² and 25,000 titles), science labs, and renovated Preschool and Primary buildings, plus a gym, Polideportivo and football field. Distinctive programs include Round Square international links, Caminata Program, Summer and Gap Year opportunities, and a strong service component through FINES.
