Colegio San Viator opened its doors in Bogotá in February 1963 to students in the first year of middle school. A grade level was added each year. On December 4, 1968 the first group of Viatorians were awarded their baccalaureate diplomas. In the early 1980s the Primary section welcomed its first students; at the turn of the century the first Viatorian girls joined the community, and soon the pre-school session began. Today, San Viator runs a fully bilingual program in Academic Calendar B.
San Viator emphasizes Viatorian values of identity, fraternity, and transcendence to guide students' personal and spiritual growth. The school engages in environmental responsibility through its Environmental Management System, including a water purification facility, a wastewater treatment plant, and a solid waste collection center. The Scholarship Program is administered by a three-member committee and has provided financial assistance to up to 15% of students since its establishment.
