Over 18 extracurricular activities are offered across sports, arts, culture, and technology. Academic and intellectual options include robotics, programming, LEGO, experiments, and chess. Chess develops planning, problem-solving, critical thinking, decision-making and memory. Activities run from September 2025 to May 2026.
Arts-related activities include Preballet and Music Initiation. Plastilina (modeling clay) and LEGO are available as creative entries within the program. Minichef (cooking) is also offered as a creative activity. These options foster creativity, self-expression and hands-on making.
The language policy is IB-aligned and supports multilingual learning. Spanish is the mother tongue and English is the additional language, with formal English instruction beginning at age seven. Languages are integrated across the curriculum and all teachers act as language teachers. The school emphasizes intercultural perspectives and international-mindedness.

The MADD Show program is a school community event featuring performances by the school's orchestra and choir, including the national anthem and the school anthem. It showcases student and teacher collaboration in large-scale school performances. The event is part of the school's community engagement activities.
Leaders in School Radio: Gimnasio del Norte hosts the International Association of Educational Radios (AIRE) in its Colombia chapter. It organizes the School Communication Meeting, an annual event that brings together students and teachers from Colombia and abroad to work on media projects. Students and teachers participate in producing school media, including articles, radio programs and video productions. The GN 94.5 radio station is a central part of the school's media program.
Wellbeing is supported through a broad sports program that includes basketball, volleyball, football, Teqball, bowling, swimming, skating and golf, with equestrian offered in Group 4. Participation emphasizes discipline, teamwork, fitness and motor development. The program promotes healthy lifestyle choices through active participation and balance with academic life.
Gimnasio del Norte International School is a bilingual IB World School in Colombia for students aged 3–18. It delivers the IB continuum (PYP, MYP, DP) with emphasis on the IB learner profile and inquiry-based learning. Diploma examinations are externally assessed and can be taken in Spanish, French or English; the DP requires the Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge and CAS, and a minimum of 24 points. Founded in 1977 by Principal Director Ricardo Pérez Arciniegas, the school has grown with IB partnerships. The campus comprises 120,000 square metres of gardens and sport facilities, including eight football fields, three covered arenas and over 60 venues, plus green spaces for outdoor learning. The IB-aligned language policy makes Spanish the mother tongue and English an additional language taught from age seven, with English integrated across the curriculum. Extracurricular activities include robotics, music and chess, such as MADD Show and a school radio initiative.
