The PK-12 curriculum is built on inquiry, fostering critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communication. The school provides English as an Additional Language support and targeted academic support to help students access the curriculum. In Grades 11–12, students may pursue the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program or the individualized Curricula Program. All graduates earn the AISZ American High School Diploma.
Music and Visual Arts are offered as core components of AISZ's program, with these subjects available within the IB Diploma Programme and the AISZ Diploma track. The Arts thrive at AISZ, and students regularly perform for peers and the community. A range of arts-related activities and clubs, including choir and drama, are part of student life.
Language of instruction is English. In the IB, Language A options include English, Croatian, French, and German, with self-taught or Pamoja language options available. AISZ supports multilingual learners with English as an Additional Language and other language support services for identified students. Upper School students may study their home language with an independent tutor or online study program.
AISZ offers a broad range of after-school activities in athletics, arts, and clubs. The CEESA Activities & Athletics program coordinates middle- and high-school events and competitions. Clubs and activities include Model United Nations, Speech & Debate, Knowledge Bowl, Chess, Photography, Student Council, and more.
AISZ has a School Community Organization (SCO) comprising parents and teachers that coordinates volunteering and fundraising to support the curriculum. The SCO organizes events such as the welcome picnic and the AISZ Gala. Community involvement is supported by governance documents and resources such as the Community Handbook.
Jump Training is AISZ's leadership development program designed to build student voice and advocacy. Students participate in opportunities such as Student Council (StuCo), Model United Nations (MUN), Knowledge Bowl, and other activities that cultivate leadership and communication skills. AISZ provides a College and Academic Counseling service to support college planning and next steps after graduation.
Athletics are offered as part of CEESA activities, with sports including volleyball, football, basketball, and tennis. Outdoor Education Programs are part of student life at AISZ. The school emphasizes character values of respect, resilience, kindness, and responsibility in daily life. An advisory system supports students' social, emotional, and academic well-being.
AISZ is an independent, coeducational, non-profit day school in Zagreb serving ages 3–18. The PK-12 program blends an American-influenced international framework with the IB Diploma Program and AISZ diplomas, all built on inquiry and interdisciplinary learning. English is the language of instruction; world languages include French and German, while the IB offers Language A options in English, Croatian, French, German, and Chinese, and Language B options in English, French, and German (with ab initio). The school offers three high school diplomas: the IB Diploma, the AISZ High School Diploma, and the AISZ Honors Diploma (which includes a senior project). The Bridges Program supports inclusive learning, and English as an Additional Language is provided when needed. The Bundek campus is an A+ energy-rated building with zero CO2 emissions and power generation to the Zagreb grid, and houses two well-resourced libraries, three science laboratories, a fully flexible black box theater, dance and music spaces, art rooms, and extensive athletic facilities. AISZ emphasizes arts, athletics, and service through clubs and CEESA activities.
