AISZ supports multilingual learning with more than 30 home languages represented. The World Language Acquisition program offers French or German to all students, alongside a Croatian Language Program for native or near-native speakers and Home Language/Other Language study for additional options. In grades 11-12, a Chinese program for native speakers is available, and Ab Initio options in Chinese and Spanish may be pursued online via Pamoja. Language A options include English, Croatian, French, and German, enabling a bilingual diploma when two Language A courses are completed.
English is the language of instruction at AISZ. Croatian is taught as a home language, and French or German is offered as the World Language option. The IB Diploma Programme allows earning a bilingual diploma by taking two Language A courses, with Language A available in English, Croatian, French, and German. Home Language learning and self-directed language study options support multilingualism.
The AISZ language program comprises three strands: World Language Acquisition (mandatory) with French or German; the Croatian Language Program for native/near-native speakers; and Home Language/Other Language study for additional languages. World Language Acquisition provides French or German to all students and follows a phased progression. Croatian Language Program supports native or near-native Croatian speakers; Home Language/Other Language study allows students to pursue their home language or additional languages, with a Chinese program for native speakers available in Grades 11-12 and Ab Initio options (e.g., Chinese, Spanish) via online learning.
